Seems more likely to me that Jenny has said something, perhaps about Annie or Zimmy, Jack has gotten annoyed at her and she is now trying to calm him down or something. Jack seems angry, Jenny seems worried.

Looks like Becky Ground has found a date, though. It's the "moongirl-Matt", I guess.

So, looking at her again, Jenny's actually pretty cute, not gonna lie.
Though, then again, this is a cartoon. Everyone defaults to cute unless steps are taken to make them otherwise...

I'm exceptionally enjoying the art & design for the students this chapter; when I stopped to think about it, it feels like we've been in the Forest and the ROTD forever, and then mainly focusing on the same side characters between that, so this chapter is a really nice change of pace.
Also, I totes agree Jack's doing that thing where you're ticked at someone and don't even want to look them in the eye.

The face Jack does is pretty nightmarish. This cannot end well...

I'm hoping Annie walks over to Janet and Willie, turns them around, and shoves them into each other.

A telekinetic, pyrokinetic girl at a school dance, WHAT COULD GO WRONG? How the heck didn't I see this before? It's of course highly unlikely that this is intentional or will be even so much as commented upon, but it's an eerie coincidence.

I'm curious about Jenny's rings there. (takes a moment to skim back through the pages) Aw dang, I was thinking maybe they were somehow helping her cope with her condition or whatever, but she didn't have them here so it looks like they are simply ornamental. Still, they're pretty nice, and her necklace as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of her outfit. I must say all the ladies have done themselves up quite nicely for the evening!

Love Margo's look, the adorable standoff that is Janet and Winsbury, and the colors on this page. Is it just me, or is Kat goading Annie on? I wonder how many times Jack's name has come up in late night gossip between our girls?

I'm in the line of thought that this all becomes irrelevent as the entire ship heads straight for a large gaping chasm in the sea: "Oh goodness gracious! The sea!" "It's like, it's been rent asunder and torn, dude!" I apologise to anyone who had become trapped on TvTropes for the hours.

... EDIT, Part Deux: Maybe Jack is just upset because Kat is dressed like him and is rocking the outfit in a way he never will. And now that I've said it, all the boys seems to be wearing the same dress shirt and trousers outfit. Winsbury for certain. Jack: "Ah man, I should have rolled up my sleeves too!" Most guys don't really have much else in the way of Fancy dress options. Honestly, I'm kinda surprised at this age the guys are all in different colors... It's a social travesty for 2 girls to show up to something wearing the same thing. It's almost expected that almost every guy will be wearing the same combo. For some reason, I could see Sullivan's John adding a vest to his outfit well. Dunno. He seems the type he'd dress up in one well.

Oh, there's going to be pig's blood, isn't there? Of course. It wouldn't be a dance without it... That is how dances went for all of you, right? Maybe, he's complaining about how she's always saying, that she has to "split", and then disappears. Just saying. Also, what is Lindsey doing through all this? Deep sea swimming?

Jk, but Jack looks like 40 years older with his tiny squint eyes.

On another note,Margo isn't wearing her glasses... contacts, maybe. I wonder if Matt knows about Kat and Paz.

I love the skylight and the color scheme reminds me of a certain scene. I'm surprised that Matt hooked up with Becky. I wonder what the sailor bots will do if a fight occurs.

I'm hoping Annie walks over to Janet and Willie, turns them around, and shoves them into each other. Or does it Etherically... No, you're right, it would be much funnier and more awkward if she did it in person! "Wait, you're NOT Zimmy, attempting to seduce me?!" Yup, my guess is that Jack is upset because Jenny dressed up for the dance and looks less like Zimmy. My sympathy for Jack is fading fast. Wait, were there people who had sympathy for Jack in the first place? He always seemed to be kind of a jerk to me... It is interesting that as soon as she sees something interesting, Kat stops and talks about it to Annie, not Paz. You would think she would be more talkative with her girlfriend, especially while on a date. She IS talking with her girlfriend! Just not the one she's..you know...dating... (Am I the only one that's heard that term used interchangeably? I'll just go hide in a hole now...)

Oh, dear. They are STILL at it. I wonder why they feign indifference these days. When that element was introduced at the beginning of the comic (I think it was the Bonus Page of Chapter Five), they were in the 11-12 age group, and so it would seem feasible that they'd be concealing their relationship to avoid teasing from their peers over being involved in mushy stuff. But they're early adolescents now, around 14, and most of the other kids in their year are getting involved with each other. Are they putting on that act out of force of habit, or something else? (Whatever the reason, it probably doesn't matter; everyone else in the Court by now probably knows the truth about them.

I wonder what the sailor bots will do if a fight occurs. Run around helplessly, screaming over and over again "What do we do? What do we do?" Or better yet/worse yet, believing they have unknowingly angered their goddess and start grabbing every robot animal they can find on board the ship to offer up as sacrifices to Kat in the hopes that they will appease her wrath.

No, this does not feel like Faraway Morning II. I think Tom knows his classics, so he probably knew we would think of Carrie. Well you spent time there too, so you already did your penance

I wonder if between Chapter 34 and this chapter there was another Annie-Jack interaction which left both of them distant between each other, aside of that dream sequence in Chapter 38. I'm in the line of thought that this all becomes irrelevent as the entire ship heads straight for a large gaping chasm in the sea: "Oh goodness gracious! The sea!" "It's like, it's been rent asunder and torn, dude!" Well you spent time there too, so you already did your penance Thanks for reminding of... ...the link-clicking site from hell. -.-

Hey all, new to the forums, but I just have this nagging question: Why do people seem to hate Jack? Most of the time we've seen him he was under the control of the spiders and the little we've seen him on his own he seems alright. Dating Jenny seems like a jerky thing to do, but we don't even know the full story there yet. I dunno, maybe I'll be proven wrong later, but at the moment I just don't see why there are so many comments that Jack is bad.
