I've suspected for a long while that the final panel of the Bonus Page in Chapter Nine was followed by Annie, a stern expression on her face, washing Reynardine's mouth out with soap.

I've never thought before about how Reynardine couldn't talk for the whole time he was with Eggers between chapters 7 and 9. I wonder if Eggers understood why (Rey had probably explained by chapter 43). Must have been awkward.
Say, which chapter retrospectives are you looking forward to the most? I've always felt that chapter 17: The Medium Beginning is the weakest chapter so far in terms of writing. I don't like the way Jones was written early on. I guess it's really hard to write an ancient being who feels little to no emotion and always acts "rationally". So yeah I want to know what Tom was thinking and what he was going for when he wrote chapter 17, as well as 23 and all of early Jones in general.
Conversely, chapter 11 which is coming up soon is in my top three favorite chapters. I almost wanna skip that retrospective. Do I really need or want any more information about it? I don't want to learn anything that will change the experience of reading it.

Say, which chapter retrospectives are you looking forward to the most? 38, by far. Tom has to say something to have a 'retrospective' at all, and any info from Tom would increase what we know about Divine. I also love chapter 14 and would like to hear more about the creative origins of Coyote.

I also love...and would like to hear more about...Coyote. Preach it, brother! Maybe a bonus comic sometime about my adventures? (pokes at Tom)

Mort's crush on Annie (revealed in Chapter Nine) becomes all the more poignant when we learn in "So Long" how young he was when he died.
Tom just posted the Chapter Ten retrospective on YouTube - complete with some over-the-top organ music that matched the tone of the Spacemonaut chapter perfectly.

Tom posted the YouTube retrospective on Chapter Eleven. One or two hints about Zimmy and Gamma, though only hints (he obviously doesn't want to spoil future surprises in the comic by explaining everything about them). We learn that he imagined Zimmy as swearing a lot, but toned her language down in "Gunnerkrigg Court" for obvious reasons. He also revealed that the alley where Gamma discovered Zimmy is a real place in Birmingham, even showing a photo of it.

Tom mentioned that we saw the Court offer Zimmy a place at the school, but Zimmy wants nothing to do with at first. Zimmy stops to think about after the Court agents say that Gamma would be safe. Tom said he is saving Zimmy's decision to go to the school for an extra mini-comic. Then Tom quickly flashed a picture of an electric plug (I had to back track and advance the video bit by bit to see what it was).
It sounds like Zimmy went to the Court for Gamma's sake and the mini-comic may explain what threatened Gamma. Does any one have any idea what the picture of an electric plug means?

That was awesome. Any extra insight into the lives of Zimmy and Gamma is very cool.
I love the fact that we find out that Zimmy's powers are partially prophetic, even if she doesn't understand (or care) what it means. I am really looking forward to the mini-comic on these two, and especially if Tom does get into Zimmy's head and show her coming to grips with what her "powers" are all about.
This is one of the most interesting retrospectives so far! And they have all been very entertaining and informative. This was such a great idea.

I'm assuming it means that what he is saying is a plug for the minicomic. Hence the plug. More Zimmy and Gamma would certainly be welcomed.

Just a visual pun about him plugging his spin off comic about Zimmy and Gamma, I'm looking forward to seeing more of these mini-comics. If I had to guess, I would assuem that while Zimmy is ok with living on the streets of Birmingham, Gamma doesn't like it very much, but stays there for Zimmy. Zimmy probably came to the court to be in a place where Gamma felt safe and happier. Also I really like these retrospectives. Tom gives just enough information to make them interesting, but without giving too much away about future plot points. It will be interesting when we come to later chapters where many of the plot points haven't yet been explained, so far most of the mysteries brought up in the earlier comics have either been solved, or evolved into more elaborate questions. He'll have to tread a lot more carefully later on!

You are forgiven to think that it may mean something more significant. I mean, this IS Tom Sidell, after all. Semi-prophetic, huh? Quite interesting.

When Tom said that Zimmy's visions are 'semi-prophetic', I saw that the big white thing skewered to the pavement was like Sivo when Rey possessed him.

Yeah I noticed that at the time but hadn't realised that this scene was set in the past, interesting, and certainly lends credence to the thought that Zimmy's view of Kat as the robot god is a prophecy too.

Chapter Twelve's up - with probably the biggest portion of it being Tom talking about how he has to restrain the urge to go back and redraw things. Appropriate timing, in light of how the consequences of that chapter are felt in the current one.

Chapter 13: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA6RdGS8YRo&feature=youtu.be-- What's written on the table?! Also, it makes me sad that Tom stopped talking about his comic in the forums because he didn't feel welcome here (wayyyy before my time)... but if it brought him peace of mind to no longer do it, then I understand why. I am sorry for missing that time period, though.

I am sorry for missing that time period, though. I remember the argument in question. There was basically one guy who was upset about the chapter because he felt aly's parents were lobotomising him against his will and that just made the entire chapter seem unpleasant to him. Tom tried to argue that that wasn't the way the chapter should be read (I remember him very snarkily posting a link to the wiki page on metaphors) but, yeah, he's right in the video that the majority of people did like the chapter so I get why he'd think 'yeah, I've just got into a four page argument with one guy about this thing that nobody else is saying, this isn't useful input' and backing away from too much interactions with his fans.

And it might be a better idea to let the readers figure things out for themselves, in any case.

"Paul is dead!" Seriously though, it isn't very readable given the image resolution. It looks like a "4" in the middle but I want to think that it is really a rough "&". The first word might start with an "s" and the second word might start with a "b". We see "S" and "B" a little later in the comic www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=333 . EDIT: fish beat me to it in the thread gunnerkrigg.proboards.com/thread/707/cool-noticed-on-reread?page=45Ah yes, Tom's video today reminded me that we might have seen S+B as far back as chapter 13. The scribbles on Aly's desk are nigh indecipherable but it's possible to make out the first letter of the first word as an "S"; and the first letter of the second one is probably a small "B". Now the character in between those two words looks like a "4" but could also be a very blurry "+". So here you go, ladies and gentleman, the first appearance of S+B!
