Ok, we can't even keep on-topic in the forums.. what makes you think people would manage to talk about something relevant in a live discussion?  laughing on line But yeah, it's nice to have a quicker-moving conversation than a forum thread, though I was busy for the most of it. |

True. If nothing else, it keeps me from talking about space on actual comic threads.
That conversation wasn't much different from my daily fare, since I'm at a science school. Also, I am now wondering why you have the Schrodinger equation as your signature and status.

That was more of a joking reply but eh. Would still like to see something happen to keep it secure though. We've already seen one thing getting started, popular, and subsequently destroyed as of late.. personally I'd rather fix the problem before it happens. |

As setting up real bots seem to be too much hassle to anyone bother with it, Quakenet (that's been already mentioned) provides Q, which (I hear) offers some protection against channel takeovers. (I hear too that takeovers can still be possible.) Undernet also has some kind of channel service, but no idea is that any better than Quakenet. (I don't frequent either of them.) Also, why EFNet in first place? |

So, the QuakeNet channel #gunnerkrigg ( webchat link) has been steadily up and running for a couple of weeks. Daily allotment of Fun Time, such as wondrously random and frantic discussions concerning (amongst others) the definition of art, obscure 40s music, Raspberry Pis, the one whose name is Robert Paulson, and even (to whoever up there this might concern, have mercy upon my soul:) much Doge very IRC such chatting , has been dutifully produced to enjoyment of everyone involved, that is, for those ~4 nicks who have been hanging around somewhat regularly. |

If you're interested in becoming part of the furniture like Gotolei KMar Thoth Covalent and I, then download an IRC client (Hexchat is preferred by Gotolei and I) and set it to autorun and autoconnect at startup. *is trawling for new blood with which to restore the channel's vitality* Although, I'll be going to bed right after this post, so don't expect to see me, although whoever's on at the time will certainly welcome you! |

I can confirm that the IRC is still awesome, though it would be a little easier to maintain its vitality if we tried to schedule something regular, rather than just hoping people spread across the globe will happen to be on at the same time.
