forced genderbending of Reynard is now potentially cannon. Thank you for that I think girlRenard would be pretty cute, especially when he* reluctantly gives into his feminine side (A) That was not my intention; I don't like most of the forced-genderbending works out there, and... (B) I refuse to believe that no one else has thought of this implication before. Basically, we've got all these tropes like "Mind over matter" and "The mind is the plaything of the body", and then you introduce shapeshifters into the mix and it all goes out the window. Or does it? What (odd) effects might you get? That's sort of what I was idly thinking.

Well Renard was origionally trying to take Annie's body, that could have provided some gender bending possibilities. So it's not as if he's averse to it.

I hadn't even thought of that, but yes, I think it helps illustrate my point. How much of Reynardine's personality is dictated by the body he inhabits?

I wouldn't say that; I'd say it was more angsty but under the rug, and it all happened well before Paz came into the picture. After realizing that there was the possibility that she was into girls and that people might perceive her as gay, she was a little jumpy, yes, but other than that there wasn't that much angsting compared to other coming out arcs. I thought she was pretty much over it after "Divine" though. Yeah that's what I was getting it. It's not that there's absolute 100% zero angst, but compared to a lot of other coming out arcs it's pretty upbeat. Which is something I wish I saw more in media in general (it's getting a lot better these days though).

Reynardine has always had a "male" personality (not trying to get into gender-politics, but I think most people would agree with me that's the way he acts) but suppose Annie had been carrying around a Strawberry-Shortcake doll or a MLP toy: do you think it would have had any effect on Rey? It probably would bring him more voyeur opportunities and deserved clobbering, but hey, Renard is still far from "that... thing" Blair.

Kinda concerned about the "again" and talk of it being a habit. How often does Annie do this? "Well, the mind is nothing but a plaything of the body, correct?" [ 413] By the way - and this may have been discussed back in time when I didn't even know of this comic let alone the forum - are you aware that Rey quite accurately, or let's say at least very correctly, refers to Nietzsche there. Here, in Zarathustra: "Your small reason, what you call “spirit” is also a tool of your body, my brother, a small work- and plaything of your great reason." By "great reason", Nietzsche means "body". I believe Tom's particular wording of that quote was borrowed from the manga Battle Angel Alita, which itself was a reference to Nietzsche.

But what did the fox try to say? Suggestions? A play on silly stereotypes like, "But you don't play sports or own a cat?" And, of course, " Say, do you know what I'd like to watch?...." Perhaps, the bonus page will have him making a list for future use.

But what did the fox try to say? Suggestions? I take the liberty to compile the following list, partly from the comments on the comic page. - "Maybe if I saw you kissing your girlfriend, that would give me enough insight to know where Annie would go!"
- "And you didn't let her join you? Of course she ran away!"
- "Is Annie the 'girlfriend' you are talking about? You knew I wanted to watch!"
- "Now you've got to tell me if you think Parley is hot!"
- "So you and Annie didn't hook up?! I'm shocked!"
- "I called it!"

"And she didn't even invite me to watch?"
As to where Annie is now, maybe she's indeed on the other side... Collecting flowers or something else for a gift. She have to congratulate her best friend, after all.

that picture is deep, the double entendre is an admonishment to current state of society I'm pretty sure there's no double entendre there; that would require two meanings, a "clean" meaning and a sexual meaning. I'm pretty sure the sexual meaning is the only one.

I actually like how other than the awkward self discovery phase there has been very little angsting from Kat, which is a refreshing change from a lot of coming out arcs. She worked through her stuff, she likes girls (or at least likes Paz), and she's ok with that. Wello, there is another established girl couple that probably most people assume are romantic. They are even butch/girly rather than geekgirl/girly. Everyone thinks they are weird, but for totally-unrelated reasons; the assumed romantic link is not an issue at the Court. So Kat probably doesn't think it's a big issue for her either (outside of self-understanding and the same sort of doubts and questions a straight couple would have at that point).
