didn't tom get served notice back in september? if it was Me I would have found a new place, cited break of contract from landlord, got back deposit, and moved into new place as soon as possible. Where does he even live? what country?

Where does he even live? what country? The UK, Birmingham, I believe. And sounds like that like myself, Tom really hates unexpected change that requires immediate action. Being told to move under two months notice would be downright physically painful to me.

He has known for some time now, but I don't blame him for being so distressed. It sounded like he was pretty happy where he was living, relatively speaking.

Where does he even live? what country? The UK, Birmingham, I believe. Lies! Clearly he resides in an orbiting space-station, as befitting a man of his stature. The "eviction" is really a disaster caused by debris impacting the station, and Tom and a group of astronauts are busy frantically scrambling to keep the massive station from de-orbiting, and likely crashing into a major city, killing hundreds. Get your facts straight people!

wouldn't it be relatively easy if he searched for a new apartment among his fan base? I suppose he could probably catch a deal of a new place.
I would offer, but I live in canada. Has no one else offered?

They can do that? Jeez, he should come across the pond. That wouldn't help. The building my first apartment was in got sold, and my roommates and I had to leave after just 9 months, despite having signed a 1-year lease (and having paid a broker's fee based on a percentage of a YEAR's rent). Plus, moving is both tiring and stressful, even if things mostly work out. Got sold to another landlord? Yeah, to people quoting my post: I meant from the facts that we've been left with, I can't really think of any grounds for eviction. Maybe I missed it, but I don't believe he said anything about landlord selling to another tenant or anything. Edit (Disclaimer): I am not (yet) a lawyer and nothing I have said should be considered legal advice, and I cannot and will not represent peeps in a court of law.

He has mentioned that his house got a "For Sale"-sign awhile back without his knowledge and he had to put up another sign to tell people that he wouldn't show out the house for anyone.

Anyone know why Tom is getting evicted? Is it because he said he wished his house was burnt down during the riots?

As said previously, His landlord is selling the property. as such all contracts with current tenants become void. Necessitating the delivery of eviction notices, and return of valid Damage deposits. Has Tom talked with the new owners, to see if they are open to renting out to him?
The real question is does Tom have a new place to move to? or is Tom still looking for a place to rent?
Leading to the Other question. Does anybody in the fanbase living in the UK, [General] or living in or near Birmingham, UK have a room or suite available to rent to Tom?
Post here or message Tom with relevant information. - General Location [What town/city/neighbourhood] - Size [Room or Apartment, square feet] - Date Available [when can he move in] - Length of Contract [How long can Tom live in suite? week, month, 6 months, year] - Extras [Bathroom En-suite, Utilities Included/not included, basics, internet, cable, phone] - Local Malls, University/college, transit, parking

Well apparently the eviction is taking place on grounds of selling it to another potential tenant, and that can happen in at-will and periodic tenancies. Still seems off though, when implied warranties of habitability would entail protection against a landlord's entry like that. Here in the US at least, tenants have impliedly contracted against the landlord just up and selling to someone else except for cause (like the period being over and the tenant holding over, some breach of contract while they're still in tenancy relationship, etc.).
Edit (Disclaimer): I am not (yet) a lawyer and nothing I have said should be considered legal advice, and I cannot and will not represent peeps in a court of law.

In Germany there is the concept of "Eigenbedarf". Roughly translated is would mean "Need for one self". Basically if a landlord needs his property for themself or a family member or someone else who an actual need to use the property instead of the tenant. It's more complex than that short explanation of course, the tenant has some possibilities to defend his own rights in such a case. And you cannot cite "Eigenbedarf" if you only just bought the property, you have to wait a few years. From what I gather the situation seems to be similar with this whole "Section 21" business.

Get your facts straight people! Â That's just retarded. He lives in a Lorenz Exclusion Zone, deep in space and two years in the future. That's how he can work so quickly: weak time-travel.

I really don't think any of this is helping Guys. Very amusing though. Unfortunately, very few of us are in a position to help. There's no mention of a money issue. Just a "find a place to move into and then do so, what a hassle" issue. (Which is plenty. Heck, when we've been in one place for a while getting ready to move again is a hassle - and our house has eight tires and a big engine.) The odds that any of the participants in this forum (a) own residential rental property (b) in Britain, preferably the same part of Britain that Tom's in, and (c) have a vacancy in that property, are pretty low.

I really don't think any of this is helping Guys. Very amusing though. Buying something from Topatoco is about the limit of our ability to help Tom. I seriously, seriously doubt he would accept a room from an internet stranger and he has good reason not to. Half of us are crazy and the other half are even crazier. It's a nice sentiment, but this isn't Reddit.

Or do y'all do do things different outside of western Canada? And on another note, I actually do have a room available. But I'm too far away, he living in the UK while I live in Canada. Just figured one of us has or knows of a place near him that is Vacant. The Mountains are quite nice here. And technically isn't everyone crazy? How else would an Author write a character as believable as Jack?

As forgetful as I am, I don't know where the UK is. And hey, I live in the west of Canada too There should be someone. There's tons of people that use this forum. I don't think all of them still check it regularly though. I can barely keep up, with the amount of threads active right now.

You do forget that before renting from someone you meet them first so they can serial murder you right there on their own property instead of having to deal with the hassle of tracking you down to a dark, empty parking lot somewhere else!

Jim Everyone you meet could be be a serial killer or a terrorist. If you want to live in fear seal yourself in a cement underground bunker But keep it too yourself, you're more likely to be killed by a relative or acquaintance, than a stranger off the street. Family Inherits, Co-workers get Promoted, Friends keep the tools they borrowed. Who's more likely to kill you to earn a buck?
