Ray was already planning to stay out late, so was he looking for her? This tiny girl has trouble written all over her. Its the red eyes right? I always think girls with red eyes are trouble. Or anyone with red eyes actually..

has anyone seen "Rozen Maiden"? That was my first thought. This tiny girl has trouble written all over her. That was my second. For some reason, in my head, her voice was that of Blackfire from the Teen Titans cartoon.

Something tells me Renard isn't going to end up helping Hettie, and she'll probably tag along with him on his errand instead. I guess she's there to provide a second opinion on something or as a window into Renard's daily life.

She needs help stitching the flesh of her victims together into a human suit.

Has anyone considered that Rey and Hetty might be an item?
I know some people refer to everyone as "darling" and "my dear" but it is kinda odd. What's the chance that she tags along like tpman said and she asks the questions about a "previous love" or something?

She needs help stitching the flesh of her victims together into a human suit. And Rey is glad to help. Again.

It's pretty clear: she is a doll animated by magic.
Remember, we're exploring a universe filled with ghosts, robots, fairies, Minotaurs, psychopomps, and an incredibly powerful coyote god. Is a magical doll too far-fetched?
Guessing from the comic, I'd say she's probably less than 60 centimeters tall. Her fingers seem hinged, and her body proportions are waaaaaaaaay out of whack.
I'd venture that Renard, in one of his excursions, met this little doll and became friends with her.
Also, I'm reading her dialogue in Grey Delisle's voice, subconsciously.

Honestly no, doesn't seem weird at all. In fact, considering all the other stuff we've seen so far this is almost tame. I wonder what coyote's explanation would be for how the ether brought this about.

I also agree she must be a robot or something, or at the bare minimum "built". But to what end? What is her purpose? It's pretty clear: she is a doll animated by magic. The Court Robots are sort of golem cyborgs, so we may as well fall back to the already known common denominator here. Why would someone build a golem in a girl doll shell? My guess is - not everyone's a good sculptor, and it was the only non-creepy humanoid figure at hand. And/or the maker's little sister always tried to talk with her doll anyway, so may as well have nice company. Two pigeons with one stone... carved all over with microscopic golem-script. Its the red eyes right? I always think girls with red eyes are trouble. Or anyone with red eyes actually.. Jack would probably agree, but then point out it's not enough of a reason to steer clear. These can be just too cute. Though "trouble" part holds true. Hey! At least I don't have boxbot's eyes... The sad thing, keef got a point. In that boxbotized avatar is a vast improvement over... those grey Nobodies... ugh. Also, I'm reading her dialogue in Grey Delisle's voice, subconsciously. I'd call something between "soft" and "habitually imperious". Or between Miyuki Sawashiro - as-Shinku-talking-down-to-Jun, and more cheerful and expressive Miyuki Sawashiro -talking-to-the-audience.

Mobile inkpot capable of finding ink bottles and refilling itself? When quills and thus inkpots dropped out of fashion, Boxbots were repurposed, which is why now they don't have a clear niche, but try everything at random and end up... notoriously less than optimal in these roles.

She needs help stitching the flesh of her victims together into a human suit. So she solicited the help of one of the only two guys in the whole court who doesn't have hands? I don't think that'd work out too well. Unless she just needs him to hold the pieces up with his mouth.

Remember that cursed teapot? If I had the choice of learning what the content of Tony's phone call to Antimony was, and having a cursed teapot bonus comic, I would choose the latter. People would rather gaze deep into boxbot's terrible eyes than look at your default avatar. (Seriously, I would love to have been a fly on the wall during that art/design session. "Okay Phil, we've got the specifications from the boss. Apparently we have to make it as unsettling and eerily non-human as possible. Let's get to work.")

I wonder what coyote's explanation would be for how the ether brought this about. I would assume that someone was playing with magic and they animated a doll. I would have thought it would fit into the etheric framework somehow, people dying and their energy being translated into real world changes and so on. Almost like Neal Gaiman's American Gods or Terry Prachett's magic, come to think of it. Belief=power.
