So Renard is sneaking off to help faeries? Makes perfect sense.

An animated doll of some sort, it seems. While I certainly did not expect this, it makes sense. What kind of sense will remain to be seen, though.

So, is Hetty a city fairy? I'm a bit surprised that there is one in the court considering how etherically grey it has been shown to be. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be since they have been shown to exist.

She called him Reynardine, which makes me doubt she is of Gilitie origin. Incidently, when was the last time someone called him Reynardine? Seems like most people just call him Renard now. ETA: As far as I can tell, the most recent occasion was the Headmaster in Chapter 41.

Although, she doesn't have the whited out eyes the forest faeries usually have.

She looks like a doll of sorts to me. Out of curiosity, what makes you say that? The face does look pretty porcelain. The purse has a big red button on it, and she doesn't have any wings, so maybe not a fairy after all. The Github project is going to need a new tag, I think.

Also, her fingers in the last panel appear "detached" from her hand.

For me it's mostly her figure. True, fairies are tiny and slim, too, but there's something about her that just screams "doll" to me. Also note the distinct lines where her fingers connect to the hands. Looks a lot like doll-like joints to me.

'Hetty'? my reaction was, btw, "wtf" too.

Annie has done that a few times when he was in trouble, and Eglamore usually formally calls him reynardine. Reynardine is probably just a more formal form of Renard.

For some reason those bright red eyes bug me. Going with the "animated doll" theory, I'm gonna expand that to "possessed animated doll".

Reynardine is probably just a more formal form of Renard. It was the name Surma gave him years ago. ETA: from what I understand, his "true" name is Renard.

They look somewhat robotish in design, maybe they're not boots at all but just robotic legs. Also her hands display a cutting line between fingers and the rest of the palm, and the same with the line under her neck. She is capable of facial expressions though (or at least trying better than Jones). Some doll-robot combo?

I think those spheres are just some sort of jewellery or hair ornament she's wearing. Also: Hitty Her First Hundred YearsInteresting... coincidental? Maybe, but still interesting.

She also has articulated joints.
Re: renard vs reynardine
As most of us are probably aware by now, "Renard" is French for fox, from the character "Reynard", an anthropomorphic fox from European traditional allegorical fables (in which appears grumpy old Ysengrin/Ysengrim who charges him with various misdeeds)
Reynardine, as it turns out, is a character from an English ballad known as "the mountains high", who is an outlaw who abducts/seduces beautiful young ladies. Later versions have him as a werefox.

Indeed, the story of King Pygmalion, who sculpts the most beautiful lady who he then falls in love with, then I think a god feels sorry for him and brings her to life. From which "Pygmalion" by Shaw was named; musical version of course "My fair lady"

My first thought was a doll too, I'm imagining a high pitched and overly posh accent too, and I already don't like the character. But then I've always been creeped out by dolls like this. blergh.
In the renard/reynardine debate, I always assumed renard was French, given the name and source of myth. but when I introduced my (French) girlfriend to the comic recently she pointed out to me that reynardine would be a female name in France, with renard being male.
Doing a Wiki they are actually two separate myths, although both involving foxes

She is kind of tiny to be a shop vac, LAUGHING ON LINE.......
Anyways, I do agree with her boots looking rather robotic than simply boots, so if she is a some kind of doll robot combo, she is clearly more than just a robotic doll.

Or better to say she's the origin of the Galatea myth, rather than the myth being her origin story. Also, what the hell, Proboards? I keep getting whipped away from the create post page back to the thread. [edit] And I never made nor posted that previous thread! [/edit]
