I know it's been said before that if there WAS a Gunnerkrigg Court movie it would be animated, but I still think it'd be fun to discuss who would be who if it was adapted as a live action film I was sort of thinking up roles and stuff and I couldn't remember all of the characters, but I managed to assign roles to at least the main characters: Antimony Carver - Saoirse Ronan Kat Donlan - ? Reynardine (voice) - Guillaume Canet Coyote (voice) - ? Ysengrin (voice) - ? Zimmy - ? Gamma - ? Surma Carver - Chloe Sevigny Anthony Carver - ? Mister Eglamore - Colin Farrell Donald Donlan - ? Anja Donlan - ? [EDIT] Jones - ? Dr. Disaster - ? Smitty - ? Parley - ? Diego - ? Jeanne - ? Headmaster Llanwellyn - ? Jack - ? Paz - ? Red - ? Blue - ? Shadow 2 - ? Mort - ? Winsbury - ? Margo - ? Janet - ? John - ? Marcia - ? Bob - ? Mr. Thorn - ? I can't think of any more BUT this thread is obviously open to changes and stuff. So yeah. If you think of any more characters tell me because seriously these are the only ones whose names I remember

Coyote would definetly have to be one of the comedians, also I don't think Anthony Carver has actually had any lines, or very few.
The only name I recognize of those you picked is Colin Farrell, however I'm not really knowledgeable in actors and actresses.
A few comedians that I do know would be Jackie Chan, Johnny Depp (Maybe Eglamore for him?), a few others I can't remember the name of and Wikipedia isn't helping much.

Saoirse Ronan is an awesome choice!
I wish I could remember who voiced Quicksilver in X-Men Evolution. I've always 'heard' Coyote in his voice.

Richard Ian Cox is the actor who voiced Quicksilver. You're right, I think he would be perfect for Coyote.

Kate Rusby and Phil & Paul Hartnoll should collaborate on the soundtrack.

Haha - for a minute there, my brain misfired and I thought you meant Colin Firth as Mr. Eglamore. I was terribly confused. XD
(Not that he isn't a good actor and all, but there is no real resemblance whatsoever.)

Based purely on looks I might put Zooey Deschanel as Anja, but I'd resist due to the fact that she can't act.
Edit: Realised it's an animated film, so nevermind.

Whaaa, I meant the live-action version of the film. So Zooey Deschanel is a-ok The only reason I have Coyote and Reynardine and Ysengrin as voices is because they can't be played by anyone in a live-action adaptation.

Guh, I'm an idiot, I mis-read twice. Time to go back to school! I've changed my mind though, Zooey Deschanel is too young. Also I doubt she could pull off a Galician accent.

A Galician accent? I always assumed she talked with some kind of Slavic accent.

Hmm, guess I assumed that because the names "Anja" and "Katerina" with the abbreviation "Katja" are most common in Russian-speaking countries. And because Russia does have a Romani-population as well. And because her sentence structure in "Ties" was so somilar to Russian grammar...

She is actually Romani, so she's from Spain. Romani people are found in all of Europe, not just Spain. I thought Tom or someone said she was Spanish, but yea fish is right. The names and Anjas accent (mostly the names) did seem like they are of Eastern European descent. Which is why I thought Kat has Eastern European, maybe slavic, ancestry before someone told me she was Romani. I'm not exactly sure when the statement about them being from spain came in, Tom maybe? legion: I know that, it's just that I thought someone said that she was specifically of spanish descent. Edit: Found it, Toms comment is about halfway down this page: chrysoprax.org/gunnerkrigg/results?term=spainMore specifically though, it's Anjas family who was from Spain, her familys travelling around alot could explain why her accent didn't seem Spanish.

Mark Hamill as Coyote. You know it makes sense.

I think that Saoirse Ronan is a bit too old to play Annie, unless the movie adds a few years to the children's ages (which *has* been done before in adaptations, of course).

I recall Tom saying that Elizabeth Röhm (who played Serena Southerlyn on Law & Order) should be Jones. And I think Morena Baccarin looks more like Anja. Don't know how well she could do... whatever accent Anja has.

I believe we had a discussion about this in statements to tom? I think. Anyway we decided that it would have to be a tv show. A movie would have to be an awful butchering in order to fit it into the time frame. However a chapter an episode would work great. Then we said that it would be claymation.....Cause claymation is awesome. Now I or someone else has to find this discussion.

Well yea, if you mean a movie in the theatres which are generally an hour and a half to two hours long, but there are movies which have been 2 and a half to three hours long (The Titanic being a recent example). It would be hard to fit such a long story into a single movie.
Doing webisode movies would be a good idea, do a chapter or two (depending on length) at a time that way.

It doesn't actually help the discussion, but every time I see "Romany" I think "Dr. Doom".

Oh geez, I didn't even SEE Mark Hamill. But YES, he'd make an amazing Coyote, especially considering his famous Joker laugh. Does this mean we can get James Earl Jones in there too?

All roles should be played by Danny DeVito, wearing wigs when necessary.
