I predict it is time travel.... No fair coming here from the future to predict things.

Okay I know quoting myself is weird but I am thinking this page, where Coyote talks about taking a life "without letting it escape", may prove to be very important. This is not exactly how I thought this ability would be relevant, but it seems possible that this is how it works. Radical thought: what if it's not only Annie who has been duplicated, but the whole Court? What if Loup extracted the lives of almost everybody at the Court and let Annie 'return' to a simulation? ... It was then Coyote Loup remembered he was also Dr. Disaster!

So a nice conversation in the ether " Who are you?" " Who are YOU? " Bring Renard and give them both the chance to order him around. And both Annie's would be capable of. Then have one give an order and the other give the exact opposite order. What would happen then? Will he die or be released from both bindings? What would a free Reynard do?

Actually, if the conflict between two orders did cause Renard pain, the scenario would start to remind me of that one story about King Solomon. The real Annie would want to save Renard the pain, so she would immediately take back her order, even if it meant that the other Annie would be recognized as the "real" one. Of course, if both of them are real, then both of them would react that way... in which case, we're back to square 1.

Just as if Annie had issued a command and then changed her mind and made another? But thinking now, would Renard have to follow a fake Annies orders if he thought she was the real Annie?

I don't see how a simulation or an alter-Annie in any way help Loup in his objective of getting the Gifts back. But destroying Annie's relationship with her Court people, so that she's maybe motivated to defect back to the Forest? That I can see. Though for the sake of Annie and Kat, I hope his plan doesn't work, if indeed that's what's going on. Except, as imaginaryfriend pointed out in another thread, since that estrangement came about because of the Annie that Loup made (and which he's close-to-admitted to making), would Annie want to live with the guy who helped bring about that rift (and presumably wanted to)? On the other hand, she would have nowhere else to go; the Forest might seem the only alternative to living on the streets. (Though, under Loup's misrule, it's not that desirable a place to live in either.)
I dunno... Antimony still has the Afterlife Guides' job offer. And there may other places similar to Gillitie Wood around the world. And she is a lock picker able of ethereal projection, meaning she wouldn't have trouble with money (yeah, it would be a crime, but she would never go hungry or lack a roof...). Those aren't good, nice prospects, but they beat being the pet doll of an insane canine divinity by a million miles...
