Prediction: Annie literally 'only' gave Renard to Anthony. For whatever reason this is not enough to break ownership.

Oh I'm looking forward to that. Most awkward dinner party ever.

Dinner with the Donlans?
Now this I could get behind; no matter the outcome, I'm curious what they have to say to Mr. Carver.

Hm. Indeed. (One wonders *exactly* what Ms Carver ordered Reynard to do?) [edit] Ah yes. Dinner with the Donlans. What could *possibly* go wrong? (I wonder if Plan Theta would distract Tony?)

Ha ha! Is that a speck of hidden disobedience, Annie?

Another awesome Renard scene hinted at but omitted from the comic due to language that would ruin the all-ages rating.

She did order him not to speak, but I'm not sure if that was to stop his ranting earlier or if it was also to keep him from talking to Anthony.

Heheheh! Ben hanging around too many Tricksters. Forbade him to do what, Annie? Take the cotton wool out of his ears?

I've had a suspicion that the symbol on Renard's doll body only works for Annie. Perhaps he's still hers to command, or maybe if the doll doesn't belong to her any longer, Renard is free and only pretends to obey Tony now.

I suspect Tony will be impervious to Plan Theta. What took me by surprise is the notion that Tony can have restricted ownership of Rey. I assumed it was a black and white thing. I'd suspect Annie of some trickery, but she seemed so earnest when he asked her. Maybe the nature of his current state simply makes it impossible for Rey to be fully controlled by anyone besides Annie?
...Oh! The lockpicks! Annie ceded control of the stuffed toy, but not the lockpicks inside it! Maybe that caused the partial transfer

Prediction: The ownership was transferred properly, but direct orders are hard and hence problems in the vein of "You did not tell me not to do X" especially if the one taking orders does not like you. There's a reason why Asimov's robot stories had a profession named "Robot psychologist".
Also, the way Mr. Carver said "We accept" without checking with Antimony - I do not like it.

Maybe she only ever wanted Annie to have it, so she can't actually give it to anybody else in a way that would give them control of something hiding inside it. Or Annie subconsciously didn't want to give Renard away. Or Renard is good at using loopholes. Or if Anthony really is using some kind of mind control on Annie, it doesn't count. Could be any number of things at this point.

i can't get over how much seeing anthony's face makes me want to rearrange his features in a more Piccasso like way. Is he blind? Is he so corrupted that he can not see what he is doing to his child? More on topic though. Rey has been passed on. Rey is not obeying. Good fox Rey. I would love to see a scene between Rey and Anthony. Is he talking back? I wish he is. As for the dinner... I aint holding my breath. Unless Eaglamore is there too. but actually not even then. Reading a page every two days is torture.

I think antimony would have accepted anyway. I like the theory of full ownership did go through, but Rey is being intentionally evasive. Rey is himself a trickster, so he would certainly know how to bend the rules. Sort of like that earlyish comic where she told Reynard not to speak for whatever reason, but Rey still 'spoke' by giving her (and Kat) the middle finger with his arms, making Kat giggle and Antimony telling him to go into his box.

Interesting. Anthony didn't hand him over to the court. Or at least not yet, anyway. I wonder if this implies anything about his intentions or if he's just checking his own homework first.
And dinner with the Donlans. Now we finally get to see modern Anthony interact with someone other than his daughter. One way or another, this will give us a clearer picture of him as a character, rather than a father.
Edit: I feel there's something intentional with his wording. "Co-operating", "full control"...I think this may imply that Renard is at least active again.

Quick, what Eglamore actually said about taking Rey from Annie? "The contract of ownership would be void"?
Maybe Annie giving Rey in this situation isn't different at all? He just doesn't want to reveal that yet.
Or maybe Rey just is going full Hetty. He, oh yes, he will abide to Anthony's plain orders literally (if he can't help it), he just isn't cooperating to act like he wants. His word is a law, but there's a difference between the letter and the spirit of the law...

Kat seems to have no additional reaction to the news that Anthony doesn't have full control over Reynard. Maybe she is more angry, but she isn't showing it. She just changed the subject with the invitation. Makes me wonder if Kat knew that Reynard would/could resist Anthony.

It's likely that Antimony would have accepted Kat's invitation as well, however she was not asked - that's my peeve here. I also expect a whole lot of hilarity from the Adventures of Anthony the Cyborg and Renard the Fox. "Renard go to the cage". *Renard walks out of the room* (The joke is that Renard set upon a path that would have eventually ended with the cage).

He just doesn't want to reveal that yet. There's difference, however, between being given and being taken away. Say, Hetty was given, and the ownership passed. I'm still disillusioned that Annie actually did this, as if Rey would be just a piece of property. That said, what I'm really interested in is what exactly were those aforementioned instructions that Tony gave to Rey.

So, so, so. Reynardine isn't co-operating? Who would have guessed? Or maybe (hopefully) Annie hasn't passed on full control? The second panel does show her looking nervous, but it can also be due to uneasiness over the subject. And Kat does pipe up with her parents's invitation when it looks like Anthony is getting suspicious. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it. It's a nice hope to have, though.
And yay! The Donlans! Let's hope they can knock some sense into Anthony. And if Eglamore is around then other things might get knocked around as well. Now that I'll look forward to!

I don't expect Eglamore to be there, given that he and Tony don't like each other. Tony was friends with Donny and Anja and even "worked" with Donny fairly recently, so he's probably alright with them and expects them to be OK with him too (I'm hoping they won't be, however).

I shouldn't think the Donlans can knock any sense at all in Anthony... but maybe they can get more answers. I'm really glad that Renard can resist Tony's orders, regardless of why :-)

She just changed the subject with the invitation. Makes me wonder if Kat knew that Reynard would/could resist Anthony. Kat doesn't have Annie's bewildering powers of deception and trickery. Or even general sneakiness beyond ability to mess with robots and motion sensors. I therefore take her lack of badly suppressed gloating as a confirmation that she did not ask Jack to make a copy of his trap to transfer Renard into another plushie on her own. She would only need to ask one robot to spy on Anthony, then "borrow" Annie's doll for a few minutes when she knows he isn't there (or go for bonus point and do it right during his lesson). If done via robot or remote, tracking her gives nothing (even without using Jack's bugs).

Anthony said Reynard was not cooperating. I believe that means Reynard is still in the plushie which Anthony now possesses. If Reynard was in a different body, then Anthony would say something along the lines that he wasn't responding to instructions.
Annie said she didn't know why Reynard wasn't listening, but Anthony never said he wasn't listening. Maybe I am reading too much into that, but it does seem like Annie may have slipped up there. Then again, I may be wishing for some defiance from Annie that just isn't there.

Good. A spark of resistance remains (not that I doubted).
Kat's plan is quite obvious. Whether her parents will react as she hopes, though...
