This is either a stylistic showing that her mental state is going all crazyfied, or it's an indication that this is indeed, as some folk have put forward, a dream sequence.
Or Tom's hand slipped. Like, a lot.

The art is a nice way to show her mental state of barriers and confidence begin to waver

Oh thank god it is a dream sequence. Really the page before was just so ridiculously over the top evil. Nothing made any sense.

I'd go with either she's having a panic attack or this isn't really happening.
I'd be a bit relieved if it's the latter.

Love the art change! Poor Annie, embarrassed by her father in front of the whole class, feeling like a little kid. :C Or Tom's hand slipped. Like, a lot. It's merely an art wound.

And yet, a calm reflection. Not so much 'calm' as 'utterly bewildered and shocked.'

And yet, a calm reflection. Calmish - startled, maybe?

Annie's regressing. This is a psychological response. Her mental state is slowly deteriorating, her confidence is shot, and she's slowly feeling the world shake around her. I remember this feeling, where it feels like you're not even in your own body and you feel empty and blank yet simultaneously overstimulated. It's not a pleasant experience.

"The class will sit in silence until you return." - Because she hasn't been humiliated enough. GKC needs to work on its anti-bullying policy. I hope she spends the whole class length in there.

I remember this feeling, where it feels like you're not even in your own body and you feel empty and blank yet simultaneously overstimulated. It's not a pleasant experience. And also, it's a good reason for Tom to let it all hang loose for a page or two, artistically speaking.

With some hope, there'll be someone in that bathroom there to yank her back to reality. One of the fairies? Jenny, maybe? Zimmy and Gamma? I can dream. I can also safely say that if anyone else is in there then Annie probably doesn't even realize it.
I guess, worst case scenario, she goes back to class... like this. For however long Court classes take. Or she's about to pass out, but that's a wee bit far fetched.

I think this is absolutely real. A very powerful method to show how Annie's internal feelings are different from the facade she shows the world - especially the perspective showing her as tiny and unimportant in the first frame, then how she is freaking out (with change to "young" art style showing her feelings of unimportance), even though her exterior has the same calm look as usual.
Very powerful page, to me.

And there's almost a weird uncanny valley effect going on in the last panel with everything looking childish but her.

Yeah, that's what I meant.
I also just noticed that the panels are off-kilter.

It's amazing how quickly her dad managed to cut through all the maturing and growth Annie went through since the start of the comic. The "childlike" nature of the artworks represents that quite nicely.
I'm not sure if I want this to be a dream. It would be less depressing, but I kinda want to see where this goes.

Yer losin' fingers, Annie! 4... 3... 2 per hand left in the last panel. (okay some may be behind the towel) It's amazing how quickly her dad managed to cut through all the maturing and growth Annie went through since the start of the comic. The "childlike" nature of the artworks represents that quite nicely. I'm not sure if I want this to be a dream. It would be less depressing, but I kinda want to see where this goes. Personally, I've been waiting for Tony to return, but would be more excited of a different intervention, you know, one that had to do with microsats, space bones and what not, instead of a one having to do with Annie's actual everyday school stuff. Maybe it's just that I've always been way less interested in GKC as a comic about girls going to strange school, and way more as a tragic story combining diverse mythologies and science fiction. In that latter alternative it would make a lot more sense if Anthony was a tragic character torn apart by his duties and his love instead of a complete douchebag.

All I can think to say is, while some are still flipping out over Tony's rules and such, I really don't see why. Yeah, calling out his daughter like that is a dick move, but parents in teaching positions often do that to avoid playing favourites etc, and not one of the rules he's given so far have been crazy evil either. I've gone and go to school in the UK, and these rules aren't all that uncommon to come by, some teachers are just stricter. However, the rules are more Primary school than High school, the sort you'd find teachers use on younger kids to keep the lil' buggers in order, which reinforces the style change symbolising a childish regression, Tom knows what he's doing with this stuff so I look forward to seeing where it goes!
