His face seems familiar for some reason but I can't think where exactly. Make that Court Agent guy, the skinny one? Relation maybe?

It's always a good idea to follow Coyote's advices.

Dang... Coyote is playing quite the game, it seems. I mean... wow. That's just plain awful for him to suggest such a thing. Cruel, cruel Coyote.
Also, I'm quite curious about what this evening survey is. The court keeping an eye on the forest's activities, maybe?

Oh snap! I sort of called it! I think! With the whole Coyote convincing Rey it was okay to do this. But I didn't want it to be through creepy hypnosis! Rey noo, honey noooo. Blinded by love? More like blinded by FILTHY LIIIES.

I've said it before but sometimes it bears repeating: Coyote is a hero or a goof in many myths but in others he is a satan-like figure, not only in tempting people to do bad and/or crazy stuff but in one myth actually redirecting the affection people had for the Great Spirit to himself.

Yes, his face seems familiar to me too, but I think that's because of Tom's drawing style. In fact, most of the faces in his comics are quite similar, I distinguish persons mostly by their haircuts and hair colour. This guy reminds me of Matt, Smitty, Eglamore and Headmaster alltogether.

Daniel must've been a nice, unsuspecting guy to see his fox friend with freaky glowing eyes and think "Yeah, that's normal for Renard. Good ol' Renard."

So I went back and looked for how Coyote talked about Renard killing this guy... and Coyote is a skillful manipulator. He completely deflects the idea that anyone besides Renard was involved in this. I don't think Ysengrin knows, either. This page is so sad.

And any doubts that we had about Coyote being behind more or less everything in this comic are laid to rest...
And I was a little deja-vu'd by the guys face too, but that's mainly because I thought it looked spookily like my real one :/

What do they do when they see a Dalek? Hide behind the coach. What are the only phrases they can say in strange situation? "What?", "I don't understand" and "Where's the tea?".

Well now we can add talking casually to your glowing friend before your death to that list.

How did Coyote create the ravine? He invited "Disaster Area".

"Well, love can make you act in strange ways, I guess." It's always a good idea to follow Coyote's advices. He doesn't propose, he asks. It's always a good idea to pay attention to what exactly he says. So I went back and looked for how Coyote talked about Renard killing this guy... and Coyote is a skillful manipulator. He completely deflects the idea that anyone besides Renard was involved in this. I don't think Ysengrin knows, either. He specifically mentioned the young man being handsome. While this kind of can be assumed... And any doubts that we had about Coyote being behind more or less everything in this comic are laid to rest... But of course. If Coyote can make a mess out of something, he probably will have his paw in it, he's like this.

If he were stereotype British he'd be after that fox with a pack of hounds, surely? Daniel R Schiff is not a typically British name either. I'd immediately assumed USAnian from the middle initial and the Germanic surname, but the “anythin’” sounds Brit, right enough.

"We heard he was captured. Tricked! One of my own, tricked!" Of course, Coyote didn't lie. He just failed to mention that he did the tricking.

Was the guy ... the forest's medium? (like Annie is now) or ysengrin was already holding the position? Why do a survey otherwise? a routinely scheduled one, even.

Oooh, good question! Maybe he was! There's no other reason I can think of a student being outside at night doing a survey. Out and about in the forest. Even in the page where it shows Rey possessing him, he's crossing the bridge. So by the time he's in Daniel's body, he's crossing the bridge to the court side.

No one said he was a student, seems far more likely he'd be a staff member. And I'd assume that relations between the court and the forest were much less tense back then than they are now. Surma was allowed to go to the forest with little supervision it seems like, and the killing of this guy, and capture of Renard hadn't happened yet to sour the relationship.

But Coyote basically created the river to prevent a war, so I assumed that relations court/wood were always pretty tense. Me too, I think he was a grownup and not a student. Surma also was no more a student at the time.
