Don't forget, Gamma pretty much forced Zimmy to go help. Gamma made her do the right thing, as she took on her self to do (again, like back on the roof with Jack). Because otherwise Zimmy either loses interest, or is afraid (understandably) to do anything at all and just mucks around pointlessly. Regarding the title of the chapter, it could be the verb divine, rather than the noun. Certainly everything Zimmy has been doing so far could be called divining.
