necroing. Also did I ever introduce? I'm snipergirl, I started reading GKC around chapter 4 or 5 from a webcomic awards shortlist (GKC was nominated for best newcomer I think). I'm a doctor, I write and I sometimes like to program. Mostly I like to have fun and read and shit but I wish I had more time on my hands! Thanks for bringing this old thread to life again. Always nice to have at least a vague idea to whom you are talking

Real Name: Michael Nicknames: Michael Age: 43. Yup. Height & Weight: What an odd question. Average for a 43-year-old, I suppose. Gender: M Favorite Games (board games, card games or videogames): My kid and I play Uno a lot. Favorite Court character: Everyone Favorite sport(s): American football Favorite movie(s): The Room Favorite book(s): No way to pick just a few Finally, tell us a little about yourself: I've been reading Gunnerkrigg for about four years and it is my favorite webcomic (or comic in general) by far. I found this board by accident when trying to learn more about Tom's Twitter mistake, and I was quite surprised to see that he directly participates here. I'm not in a place financially where I can support the comic in that way, but maybe at least as another member here I could be a tiny emotional support. Also, I used to live in the Northampton/Easthampton, Massachusetts area, AKA the capital of American webcomics. I went to a con there and saw a ton of artists but was too shy to say hello to any of them.

There should be a scoreboard for this somewhere. I think I've only got one so far, and he seems to be just as into it as I am (haven't gotten him to join the forums yet, though). A big part of why I haven't gotten more people stuck to the comic is that most of my friends were following Gunnerkrigg before I started telling everyone about it. Now that I am at college, my missionary pursuits may advance more rapidly (if I leave my room). (Let's drag up some old posts, since we're already digging up old threads!) Pshaw, that was several months ago! My count has increased since then How's everyone else doing on that respect? My (step) daughter and her daughters, although only my oldest granddaughter is really as enthusiastic as I am. Once in a while we discuss the comic on Whatsapp, in English of course. Apart from vocabulary her English is better than mine. I know she is working on some fanart. I tried to interest some others, but there are not enough comic readers among the people I know.

Recruited 3 new people! 1 reads it a lot but jumps to conclusions a little fast, 1 only reads completed chapters at a time, 1 reads it fervently and is pretty normal but isn't online as much.

One. I introduced my girlfriend to the comic. She doesn't like keeping up with each update tho, so she has me tell her when the latest chapter is finished so she can read it all in one go. My girlfriend is the same, she used to read a lot of comics, but doesn't like keeping up with umpteen webcomics updating at different days of the week so just goes through them once a month to read all the updates! I have to nudge her sometimes if a particularly good gunnerkrigg event happens!

Don't worry, be 10110 and suddenly realize 11110 seems a number tad too close (especially considering your optimistic graduation plan, never mind the realistic one) and feel as old as you wish.

I didn't want to name names for anyone under sixteen, but there you are! I'm glad people are finding this comic so young, and I'm even more happy to see how varied the fan base is!

I figure that saying their age in the first place (lacking qualifications like 'don't tell anyone') is permission to tell other people. As for converting others: I have one failed conversion attempt. One guy at school checked it out and read about five chapters. He keeps saying he'll read more, but never gets around to it.

Just finishing high school. Also, I appreciate the calculus problem. I remember those days of single-variables (wipes away tear of nostalgia) Yeah, I knew there were others, but I wasn't exactly aiming for a comprehensive list. Also calculus in arbitrarily many dimensions is much better than single-variable calculus. It makes more sense to me.

Well, it's not as if multivariable calculus is hard, necessarily. It's like single variable with a few extra steps, really.

That's basically it. It's just calculus, but without the simplifying assumptions of single variable that obscure its true significance.

Math may quite literally be the single intellectual discipline that I am absolutely worst at.
Hi, me Chancellor. Past two decades of earthly being. Male. Mebs 6'2. Fond of Mountains.
Discovered the comic at an unknown date via recommendation. Didn't actually read until the turn of the year. Absolutely in my top three webcomics and a damn fine work all said. I applaud Tom immensely.
I'm not particularly intelligent in any direction or another, but I'mpleasant enough to share a general vicinity with.
In short, all hail Robokat.

I enjoyed maths at school but moved on to the less maths-y science: biology, and never progressed beyond only simple calculus, and that was a while ago, so still no idea how old that equation points to... I'm 26, I think there's readers of a lot of ages here, so don't worry about being too young or anything.

I didn’t post here when I entered the forum because: 1. I didn’t know this thread existed; 2. When I found out it does exist I didn’t want to necro it and 3. I am lazy.
But I am going to do this now:
Real Name: Caio Ranieri
Nicknames: On the internet I am known as SevenSapiens, and people sometimes call me just Seven or "Sete" (Portuguese for "seven").
Age: 22.
Height: A little more than 170 cm.
Weight: At least 95 kg.
Gender: Male.
Favorite Games (board games, card games or videogames): Boardgames: Shogi and Ludo; Card Games: I only know how to play MtG and Yu-Gi-Oh, which are the most popular ones, and I like both; Videogames: Chrono Trigger, Clock Tower, Portal 1 & 2.
Favorite Court character: Zimmy.
Favorite sport(s): If you consider shogi and chess sports, both. If not, none.
Favorite movie(s): The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Misery, Coraline, A Scanner Darkly, Minority Report, and Eraserhead.
Favorite book(s): My absolute favorite is From a Buick 8, which is highly underrated. Then comes Carrie, The Green Mile, Pet Sematary (If you didn’t notice, I am a huge Stphen King fan), The Hound of the Baskervilles (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle), and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series (Douglas Adams).
Finally, tell us a little about yourself: I am Brazilian. The things I like to do the most are drawing and writing, especially writing. I am a published author, with two short stories in two separate anthologies, and one to be published this year (all of them in Portuguese, obviously). I have written a novel in 2012 and half a novel in 2013, both during NaNoWriMo (the half-written one is already longer than the finished one). Other than that I am a very uninteresting person.

The thing is, “I am a writer” is pretty much the most interesting thing I can say about myself, and that doesn’t say much. All it says is that I spend a lot of my time locked in my room doing nothing but typing (and, sometimes, banging my head on the keyboard.) And even though I do have a couple short stories published, I am still just as unknown as pretty much anyone who isn’t a published author.
If you started a conversation with me, I guarantee you’d be bored in less than half an hour.

Haha, it's perfectly possible to have a couple of novels published and still be unknown. And bore anyone within fifteen minutes. Not that I'd know how that is.

Haha, it's perfectly possible to have a couple of novels published and still be unknown. Yeah, but it’s also possible to be pretty well known only for only writing short stories (Edgar Allan Poe wrote only one novel, and it’s probably his most unknown work), or having written only one novel (like, say, Harper Lee). I was just pointing out how being a published author is not a big deal and doesn’t really make me different from the ordinary non-writer (or non-published writer) person. I do want people to know I am a published author, but I don’t want them to react to that information like it's the coolest thing ever. And bore anyone within fifteen minutes. Yeah, when I was away from any device I could use to edit my post, I realized that 30 minutes is way too much time. Actually I think I could bore most people in five minutes.

I wonder if Poe could do any funny GC edits. Borges would probably go on and on in wildspec about Basil. Actually I think I could bore most people in five minutes. I'd do it in 3:40!
