Well. Didn't see that coming.
What I do see coming are party hats.

Wandering Eye: -First thought: wow, didn't peg Jones for a love'em and leave'em character -Second thought: Coyote can juggle his eyes. -Third thought: I think I prefer Jones as a name.

You know, usually Tom just throws us a bone, now and then.
But every so often, I get the impression he gets tired of our barking and simply flings half the skeleton at us and lets us wear ourselves out tug-o-warring it to bits amongst ourselves. This chapter is one of those times. :3

Is Jones one of the pod people? If she is only known as Jones at the court, then she must have been known to Coyote before she came to the court, and is probably very old indeed!

So let's see: - Jones is able to enter deep into the forest without getting attacked (or maybe she was able to subdue the defenders? - Her line in Panel 5 seems a little cold, even for her. - "Wandering Eye?" Is she some nomadic spirit of sorts?

How many names has Jones stolen is the past? Is there another dark name stealing secret involving Jones and the court? or just Jones alone?
Ms. does not necessarily mean the woman is married/divorced. In North America it is the default status regardless of marital status, so we really have no idea (as of yet) how many hearts she broke via divorce, if she is some kind of black widow serial killer, or if she is a repeat offender of identity fraud

Doesn't Annie call her that often, to which she say to call here just Jones?

@ Jones: PLOT BLOCKER! I was looking forward to Coyote's take on Annie's revelations.
O, and if we didn't have enough proof already, Jones certainly isn't human; Ysengrin didn't maul her on sight. I wonder what Jones looks like in the Aetheric......

Annie is just hardwired to address adults as Mr, Mrs or Ms, I think.

So a brief Google search for "wandering eye" just turned up references to the eye condition. I was hoping for some mythological creature. However, someone on /co/ did point to this one Formspring question which I missed:

To me, 'Wandering Eye' suggests that she's curious to a fault.

Woah! Where did you come from, Jones?
Also, Coyote's face in that third panel: 8DD! He's pretty excited to see her.
On the name 'Wandering Eye' Coyote calls Annie 'Fire Head Girl', because that's the trait that's most obvious about her. So.. Wandering Eye is probably a Coyote Trade Marked Nickname for Jones. Y'know, like in those vaguely racist Native American jokes...
Certainly a surprising Christmas present. (:

What is Jones doing in panel 3? did she twiddle her fingers to appear or is she ready to strike out?

Which would then beg the question of how a Native American god became connected with an Egyptian goddess, although it's probably been long enough since Coyote came to the Forest that he might have met other gods and goddesses in other places.

He was familiar enough with Renard and Ysengrim, who were a whole ocean and mythological time-frame away, right?
I bet it's like American Gods and all these deities are familiar with each other at least by acquaintance.

The states of surprise and excitement seem indistinguishable in Coyote.
Geez, he looks like he wants to eat her.

Well now that we have more than two words of information I expect a full report on the myth of origin, relationship to the comic, and plot relevance in by tomorrow morning.

hmm :/ for some reason my mind jumped directly to the eye on antimony's head in that treatise. despite everyone agreeing that it's coyote's eye...
also, his "wandering eye" turned into a star.

Jones is one of Coyote's lost eyeballs? Well I.. I guess that would explain why he's so happy to see her..
