Let's not forget Steadman is playing double agent...jeeze. That's creepy. Not just Diego betraying her, but Steadman, who she trusted with at least enough information to get him to fire those letters off to Elfboy? The images suggest they were friends...or she thought they were, before she died. I think there's little guessing that she saw that arrow at the pivotal moment, and knew who shot it, effectively killing her and trapping her.

While I think you may be right, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves - there's no certain reason to believe that she was the target, she could just as easily have died of starvation in that ravine. It's been awhile since I've frequented this forum, so I don't know if anyone's pointed this out already, but when we saw Jeanne's body a few pages ago, there was no arrow in her corpse. Her clothes hadn't decayed, so unless it was just an artistic omission I'd think that it might still be there. (admittedly, it looks like here body may have been lain there after she died, so the arrow may have been removed. but still) Besides, why would they have to shoot her in front of Elfboy? Why would they have to wait for him to be there at all? To me, that's the most interesting question. |

The "3 hours past midnight" seems to be on a letter from elfboy, so how should anyone else in the court know about her escape plan? Unless of course one of Diegos "toys" she had in her room went spying for him...

This page is great, once again I love how Tom shows a progression of events without sticking to clear-cut panels. It is very skillfully done here I think!
This page confuses me a little - if it was her lover who asked her to meet him at the bottom of the ravine at 3am, why does she tell Diego (in the flashback in SKy Watcher And The Angel) that she doesn't want to go, and ask him "What part did you play in all this?". I think something a bit more complex is going on here than first appears...

Steadman might have been another jealous suitor. He knowingly shooting the arrows off to her true love, but doesn't like it because he wishes she'd be interested in him instead.

It's great page and I don't expect this... P.S.: Steadman was also in love with her and betrayed she too. The fatal woman, but only for himself... Probably he had not come on a meeting or they had laid him, and she had not wanted to come back? So they kill her or she had died of hunger. |

Kinda agree with Mishmash... In the video made by that little 'camera-bot' Jeanne makes it look like she's been forced to go down to Annan Waters, even realizing eventually that Diego was also involved in whatever scheme that was...
I don't think that it was related to this escape plan... Maybe the Court did something to stop this meeting from happening, like killing Elfboy or something, and that's why Diego says in the recording that Jeanne doesn't need to think about him anymore?

Maybe I'm just seeing things, but jeanne and steadman look absurdly familiar. Could it be that they're related, or in fact siblings? If they were, it would give jeanne all the more reason to styick around the annan waters, and all the more reason for steadman to feel guilty.
Either way, THE PLOT THICKENS.

Really, it's GREAT story! Hmm... I agree with Mishmash and ajfriss... There is such impression, that Steadman tried will as much as possible take pleasure in her presence, because he already knew about "sentence" which was taken out to her by a management of GC...

Greenguy wants to meet Jeanne 3 hours after midnight... But Jeanne is told by "them" to go to the Annan waters, and is lowered down at midnight. "They" are planning something and Jeanne fears what that might be. Jeanne doesn't realize Diego is part of "them" until that moment. Diego's smile might be due to the thought of violence toward Greenguy~ |

Reminds me of a little detail someone pointed out back when we first saw the arrow: You'll hear a whistling arrow coming. Maybe early enough to actually see it before it hits you (Bit of a strech, I admit. Don't think the ravine is quite that deep.) |
