Well, Reynardine isn't too happy. With good reason, but still.
Truly, a LOT more stuff makes sense now. I'm pretty sure this is why Annie go knocked off, and it explains the bridge, and stuff.

Not to mention why the school forbids students from leaving the grounds and entering the forests. If the forest-folk hate technology that much, they certainly aren't going to be at all keen on anyone who attends a school focused around technology. (Of course, they'd probably dislike Kat even more than they'd dislike Annie, in that case; Annie just made a robot from old parts, but Kat's actually done major anti-gravity experiments and more!)

Ah yes Owl, it feels good to get some answers - even if they just create more questions (which they should I suppose).
The forest vs technology thing is pretty fundamental and powerful. It featured strongly in the Lord of the Rings, where it was brought to a head in Saruman vs the Ents, and portrayed in a broader but more subtle sense in the world of the Elves slowly giving way to the world of humans. Tolkien himself was no fan of technology - he saw the disastrous effects the Industrial Revolution and WWII had on Britain's land and people.
All throughout history, the wild lands, wild creatures, and wild people have suffered at the hands of technology misused. It's still going on today in the Amazon - and all over the world, in fact.
Technology in itself is not bad, but like a gun, it can be so easily misused.
Likewise, being a technology geek should not automatically make Kat the enemy of the forest, but it certainly would make her a prime suspect. And I doubt the forest dwellers are much into "innocent until proven guilty".

Reynardine still must explain why the shadow who controlled Robot was so interested in him. The way I read the episode on the bridge, Annie was just in the way and Reynardine was the prime target.

Makes me want to call the Nice Man, Mr. Luddite ...
I'd also be betting they wouldn't like Zimmy much, though not many folks seem to like Zimmy much.
Maybe that's why the suicide fairies want to, er, commit suicide to get to Gunner's Crag because they don't want to live in the forest? Though I suspect this theory belongs in wild speculation.
EDIT:
Yuh, but so can magic. Planting a seed in robot and pushing Annie off a bridge isn't excatly nice is it? Nor friendly. Also look at Girl With Sword, she was pretty freaky too. It's mostly down to a balance, that doesn't appear to be manifesting between the Court and the wood. Annie in many respects is though, if you look at how she can see the Guides and Mort, but can also build a robot from spare parts ... This should be Wild Speculation again, sorry.

It's mostly down to a balance, that doesn't appear to be manifesting between the Court and the wood. Quite so - I was more or less connecting the conflict with the real world, where magic is rather, -uummm, underrepresented. That's why it seemed so one-sided, I think. Reynardine still must explain why the shadow who controlled Robot was so interested in him. The way I read the episode on the bridge, Annie was just in the way and Reynardine was the prime target. Yes, I too would like to know this. What do they want with him? Keep talking, Reynardine! Dang. My cat seems to think the absolute best place to sit and clean himself is right it front of my monitor. He's in league with those forest people, I tell ya! <grumble> Technology hater.

What's really interesting is this. The current trouble is starting (or about to start) since Annie sent Robot into the forest. The reason why she sent him there was to help Shadow2 get back home. But Shadow2 wound up deciding to return to Gunnerkrigg Court after all, making Annie's action, the potential catalyst for a war, ultimately pointless.

When Rey talks about the 'people' of the wood', does he mean people like us (or GC's inhabitants) or people like himself? Or something else entirely?

Y'know I just mostly assumed the Shadow Folk, but they look happy to see Shadow2 (though he did come back). A very, very good point *ponders*

The shadows did look happy to see Shadow2 back but they were all 2-horned shadows, unlike the one that posessed Robot. Also TVNM seems more solid than the shadows, he seems to be able to physically handle that seed.

Continuing on Fjodor's angle: I despise exposed communications ports. This is an affront to decent-minded mechanical beings everywhere. Ok, that was really, really hard to type with a straight face... ;D Starburst, that is just 100% pure awesome. I think it sums up the situation very nicely.
