Hi, all,
I am new here. I have read all the archives a couple times and I have tried to read the main threads, but I still have many questions to ask, and I'd like to take a shot at answering a few of what I think are still open questions.
The first thing I'd like to comment on is my interpretation of the Reynardine and Annie scenario. I see many people share my view that Reynard never intended to inhabit Annie, but I haven't found anyone who has suggested what I think, that the wolf toy was not his intended final destination.
Here is how I parse out what is going on:
55 -- Reynard shouts "Your body" loudly to draw Eglamore back, and then poises over Annie's eyes to give the impression that he is about to invade her. Eglamore comes through the door.and grabs Annie and they go into freefall. As Reynardine leaves possession of the rogat orjak, Sivo regains it and with his dying breath shouts, "NO!", as he sees his plan to trap Reynard in his body until he dies of old age and they both go to the ether has failed, and Renard is making an escape.
54 (comes after 55) -- Reynard then enters the body of the wolf toy, discovering that Annie uses it to stash a set of lock picks. Arggh! he shouts, as he impales himself on a sharp, pointy thing. He quickly recovers however and does a reccy to make sure Annie and Eglamore still aren't looking. He sees that they are distracted and then goes to jump back into Sivo's corpse, now vacant of its original occupant but still available as an object with eyes. He plans to hide quietly in it until it is moved from the dungeon. If they think he has disappeared, they may even remove Sivo's body to some place without the magic sigils enjoined on it, and he might be able to leave it without needing a new target and return to his own self. However, as he tries to execute phase 2 of his plan, he realizes he can't leave the toy because it is the property of another person. Damn it, he thinks. .
By the way, in my scenario, Reynard does not kill Sivo out of callousness or even desperation. He has occupied a body with Sivo for 5 years and understands Sivo's thoughts. There is no exit for Sivo except death, they both know that. Sivo is tired of living in a prison, and he is ready to go to RO heaven (or maybe he's even on the exchange program), but he signed up for the duration and will wait as long as it takes. So Reynard is releasing Sivo to the only release he can have and once Sivo's on his merry way, Reynard can take back his corpse without inconveniencing him any further. Reynard then just has to lay low until they move the body to someplace not enjoined with the magic sigils..
I also believe that Reynard long, long ago made up his mind that if he ever gets out of this mess, he will never, ever, not if they pound hot bamboo slivers into his paws, take another human body ever again. He has learned like many forest animals that what looks like an easy prey with no natural defenses is more trouble than it's worth. .
That's my Reynard scenario. Now here's my question to Tom:
In the last panel on 582 there is a humanoid-looking person with green sticky-up hair that looks like it should be part of the plot. We haven't seen this person anywhere else that we know of, so I was wondering if this person was part of the plot, are they still "in play" or were they never part of the plot or were they part of a plot that was dropped? I ask because this is my main candidate for who and/or what is Jones.
Next, in 607 it says that for homework, figure out why the robot cows won't mow the grass on Young's monument. This seemed obvious to me, but I couldn't find any other response to it, though I realize I haven't searched the entire forum. But anyway, my guess is cos he killed Jeanne and it's connected to the programming Diego hardwired in them. 610 -- Because he is Young's successor?
Speaking of 582 panel 5, is the horned guy in the middle a rogat orkut? Is it Nevihta?
I have a lot of other questions to ask you and comments built up from a week of lurking, but that should be enough for now.
Peace and love,
Charlotte
