Kate Rusby's Music

This has been talked about before, but I think it deserves its own thread.

As many have noticed before, many things from Gunnerkrigg Court are related, in one way or another, to songs by Kate Rusby. This thread will be dedicated to listing those songs and discussing their relationships with the comic.

These are the ones I have found so far:
"Sir Eglamore", from "Hourglass" and "10"
- Sir James Eglamore
- Has its own thread here
"Awkward Annie", from "Awkward Annie"
- Antimony's nckname
- The album cover has a girl that looks like Annie
- Hopefully nothing else, considering the lyrics
The album was released after the comic started (Thank you for clearing that up, Tom)
"Annan Waters", from "Hourglass"
- The name of the river that divides the Court and Gillitie Wood
"The Maid of Llanwellyn", from "10"
- Llanwellyn is the headmaster's and his daughter Janet's last name
-The lyrics seem to relate to the relationship between Janet and Winsbury
"Matt Hyland", from "Little Lights"
- Hyland is what they called the jerk from Chapter 22, "Ties"
- It's also Jack's last name
- One of the students is called Matt, Though this may be a coincidence
"Sweet William's Ghost", from "Underneath the Stars" and "William And Davy", from "Little Lights"
- William Winsbury
- William is a very common first name, so these may be coincidences
"Young James", from "Underneath the Stars"
- Sir Young and James Eglamore
- May also have to do with Mr. Eglamore's appearance in "Ties"
- Again, this one may be a coincidence.

Please add any other ones you find and parts of relationships I may have missed.

I don't think "Young James" is as likely to be a coincidence as the Williams, considering the apparent historical connection between Eglamore and Young as knight protectors of the court.

While the title doesn't have much to do with the comic, but I definitely think "Who Will Sing Me Lullabies?" definitely relates to Annie after the departing of her dear mother and might reflect some of her actions under the cherry tree.

Perhaps "The Village Green Preservation Society " will make an appearance in the comic one day

Thanks, I sort of forgot to check the dates, so I wouldn't have noticed it myself.

William Winsbury is much more likely to be a reference to the folk song "Willie O'Winsbury". The title character of the song even has a secret romance with Janet, the daughter of the king.

Anne Briggs performed the song on her 1971 self-titled album, and I do remember Mr. Siddell saying he's a fan of her as well.

And as another entry in the weird coincidences department, Kate Rusby's album Awkward Annie has the song "John Barbury", which is basically an alternate version of "Willie O'Winsbury".
