Reader groups?

So, out of curiousity, what is the main base of Gunnerkrigg courts reader group? There are obviously a few Wiccans, pagens, weirdos and the like Does Gunnerkrigg only attract the quirker people of the net (plenty of them out there ) or are there people here that fancy themselves as "Normal" (which usually means they're ten times worse then the other crazies )?
Personally I found Gunnerkrigg court on the trail of other "Supernatural" webcomics (either through "Earthsong" or "Beaver and Steve") and it became an instant favourite, but I'm also not what most people would consider ordinary. Apart from the fact I spend all day casting spells and painting my nails black... I also think purple hair is cool

That said, I found Gunnerkrigg via Girly & Dr McNinja, both of which I read in digest every month or so. Gunnerkrigg Court is too good for that, though. (At first, it was nice that it came on the days when MT wasn't posting, but, I'd rather have it 3 days than 2.) Oh, yeah, and I don't consider myself that 'weird' either. Not normal, but then again, 'normal' isa socio-cultural perception, not a psychological state.

Wrar... I'd go check those comics out but I already read 30 or so. x.x

I can't really remember how I found Gunnerkrigg Court; probably through Girly, which was one of the first webcomics I discovered when I realized there were such things.

Contemptible Cat, your question about the "normality" of GC fans is an interesting one ... I'm curious too. I know I'm not normal, but I really hope I'm not abnormal in a bad way.

Here's a list of other webcomics I like and why - then you can decide if I'm normal or deranged...

- Josh Lesnick's Girly, because I can appreciate Otra's character (especially in the early days of the comic), and Marshmallow Cat is so cute! (and indestructible too!)

- John Allison's ScaryGoRound, because of the supernatural events, fun characters and witty writing. I especially liked the Zombie Shelley episode. However plot development is a bit weak.

- Jeph Jacques' Questionable Content, because of great artwork, a respectful view of women, frequent updates, and a general lightheartedness. It's generally the last comic I read before going to bed because it usually leaves me smiling.

- Paul Taylor's Wapsi Square, because it has a heavy supernatural lean to it, both nice feel-good moments and chillingly intense dark moments, a deep plot full of mystery, frequent updates, and lots of room for the story to grow. Some of the dark supernatural scenes made my skin crawl. Love it! But Wapsi should take a page from Gunnerkrigg and not let its subplots dangle unfinished for too long. Right now Wapsi is wrapping up some unfinished subplots, and I've forgotten who the characters involved even *were* !!

- Jeffrey Rowland's Wigu, because the author has a twisted sense of humor (but still retains decency). Finally Wigu has started updating again!

- Krazy Krow's Krakow, because Kia is so adorable! It doesn't update frequently enough, though, and has hardly any plot. Curiously, I don't much care for Krazy Krow's other webcomic, Marilith, which is heavily plot based. Probably because it dwells more in the cesspool of human vs human behavior. I see too much of that on the news as it is!

But Gunnerkrigg Court has surpassed all these other webcomics, in my book. If it is of any interest to the readers of this thread, I'll explain why it appeals to me.

I don't consider myself "normal" at ALL !!!! but I think it makes me kinda ...... um ....special.
I read most of the comics you cited but I think GunnerKrigg Court is one the best there is out there (and trust me I know a good bunch of them). I think it has it all: great story, cool characters, nice plot, comedy and SUSPENSE (lots of it) !!!!!!
I think that most of the GunnerKrigg readers are just people who enjoy a good little fictional story (that doesn't consist of wizards or dragons or plain sexist humor) now and then

I found this comic from Ryan Armand's Minus (which is my second favourite comic after this one). I do read Questionable Content, xkcd, and Dr. McNinja regularly as well but GC is definately the most enjoyable thing I've read in awhile.

Well, I'm... normal. Sorta. I'm the nerd queen of Azaroth, but other than that, I'm pretty much a regular high schooler, who reads pretty much all the webcomics listed. As for the hair color question, can't we all just agree that anything unnatural rocks?

I can't remember how I found the comic, I love webcomics in general and just play around with links until I find something new I like. I found GC once and couldn't stop thinking about it, after that I couldn't remember how I found it for about a month, when I couldn't stand it anymore I just Googled "Antimony + webcomic" and found it again.

I don't consider myself "normal" because I think it's impossible for anyone to conform perfectly to societies expectations of a "normal" person. Aside from that, I fully embrace several quirks of my personality. This often leads to awkward social encounters. I've been told by a friend that I scare people, but I think that's because I disprove the stereotypes they try to fit me into.

Just because you mentioned Wiccans, pagens, weirdos and the like : I'm Jewish. ^_^

On a totally off-topic note, I one got a blue stripe in my hair and was suspended from school because it was a 'gang symbol'... Yeah, because there are gangs in Colorado Springs middle schools. (This was years and years ago, mind)

Well I'm Catholic...I'm not sure how normal that is... but haha. I found Gunnerkrigg through another webcomic. Possibly QC, but I'm not sure. I fell in love with the art and Antimony and the whole story...over time. Originally I didn't like it that much because it was slower to update than my other webcomics...but now I've got webcomics that update once a week... and I like those.

I've opened my mind a bit...XD Not that I don't have an open mind originally...just ot update schedules...ha.

I feel more or less normal, in the sense that society perceives me as being acceptable for general inclusion. I guess I'm kind of hippie-ish, riding my bike around town, listening to lots of jam bands, and playing jammy-style music in my spare time.

Only 30? I must be extra geeky. I finally had to break mine up by day, and my Monday and Friday lists each have 31 comics (onto which you've gotta add the Tue Thur ones, gets way up there).

heh, I got as high as 80 webcomics, but in general I find that its hard to find more than a couple dozen at a time whose update*quality value is worth it. Gunnerkrigg would easily be worth it with 1 update a week.

I recommended one of my favorite online comics - Girl Genius - to a friend. He told me if I like Girl Genius, I might like Gunnerkrigg Curt too. And he was right.

I'm perfectly normal, for certain values of normal. I have about 53 webcomics I read regularly right now, but I still need to move my bookmarks over from my old computer. I must have over a hundred that I was reading regularly in the time between graduating from college and getting a job. I had them organized in folders for the day they update, with multiple bookmarks to the same comic for each day it updated. Daily updating comics and comics with no regular schedule got their own folders. I don't remember how I found Gunnerkrigg Court, but I read several of the comics other people have mentioned. Gunnerkrigg Court is easily in my top 10 webcomics.

Kirkegaardian Existentialist, 37 (which usually makes me the token Grumpy Old Man on most webforums, esp. webcomic forums) who has... well over a hundred webcomics that I track, at least periodically. GC is on the 'short list' of 30-or-so that I check frequently, and the much shorter list of ones that I'll check when I damn well know that I've already gotten an update that day, 'just in case'.

So, yeah, GC rocks the Casbah.

I have no idea where I found GC, but I remember getting into it back around the first or second chapter. Lost in the annals of history I suppose. This was back when I was reading 20-30 webcomics regularly. I've now boiled that down to about seven favorites.

As far as GC demographics go, I'm your average internerd, so all this talk about paganism and hair dying confuses and frightens me.

i found gc because the most famous polish comic drawer advertised it some time ago...and i realized that it is what i was looking for...
