Some of my fellow voice-actors from the Fan-project may remember me talking about this... but instead of just talking about it, I decided to finally go ahead and DO it. secondchances.thecomicseries.com/My very own webcomic, which launched today. Why yes, yes this is a rather Shameless plug. I don't consider myself as good an artist as Tom, but I think I can make a story you might like to read. If you fancy superheroes, please consider reading my comic. Thank you. If it is unacceptable to advertise my comic here, I will remove it. EDIT: By the by, Critiques are welcome.

You're correct (so far) about the quality of art; but what the hey, I read two stick-figure comics regularly.
Story is off to a slow start - based on one page ;D
Outline the first several chapters, then see if you really need all of the first one. (If it were a written novel I'd say to do the first draft, then peel off the first chapter and see if you can't get the essentials from it down to about four half-pages scattered through the rest of the book.)

I like the art style, reminds me of my own a little. Maybe I should post the link to my comic if I ever start putting it on the internet (ha ha). Not generally a big fan of superheroes, but I find myself intrigued at what you have up thus far. That is to say, I will keep reading for as long as you keep posting.

I think I'm going to see more pages up before I can even begin to fairly post any sort of critique. That said, I'm definitely interested in seeing more pages. At the moment, I'd probably wait until you had a few up so I could actually get into the story.

The art style is fine to me; you may want to vectorize the images beforehand from the bitmap, to get clean smooth antialiased lines. try the Inkscape bitmap to vector feature for that. Also, try coloring respecting the outlines, without leaking out.
This aside...i'm intrigued, what happened to the old guy's eyes? Rather Zimmyesque, they seem. /adds to watchlist

Well, I wanted to follow Tom's method of having something of a buffer. I've got 8 pages set up on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule. I'm correcting an artistic mistake on page 9 right now, and will probably have 10 ready to go by the time today is done.
The question of the Old Guy's eyes will be answered soon, trust me... I've spent the last... probably 4 years debating how to start my comic... And the option that made the most sense to me was the one that best set the stage, and introduced the vocabulary, so to speak. Also, I'm running Linux, using the strangely named but very well priced (Free) and surprisingly full-featured GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). I'll look for such a feature in there.

Story is off to a slow start Oh, sure. A man who has seen horrors with his vacant eyes, a "second generation of humanity," and the Bug War. Nothing at all happened or got revealed on the first page. That being said... At the moment, I'd probably wait until you had a few up so I could actually get into the story. Somebody poke me when Chapter 1 is complete.

You are a trooper.

This comic is the result of... Several years of refinement. I'm 30 years old now... and had the idea that eventually grew into this when I was a senior in High school. After a couple of years, 3 characters in an X-Men Fanfiction had grown to about 10. Those 10 started taking on a life of their own... and I started thinking maybe they didn't need marvel's universe. Then began the long, long process of trying to build a world under these characters. I've debated Single-character specific main storylines, Team-based... I've almost started twice before. My world has REALLY gotten some major leaps and bounds in development over the last 2 years, and it's grown into a different place than it started. I had some friends help me 'playtest' the world lately, and it really helped me put legs on it. Now, it's a huge, very detailed, and breathing world. It's the work of more than a decade... and a tribute to a friend I lost before that time. Soon as I figure out to make an 'about' page or something like that, I'll give him an 'In memory of' Credit.
Also, I'm a completely self-taught artist... couldn't even get into Art in high school, because it was too full of stoners looking for a cake grade.

It's too early to judge on the story... but regarding the art, the colors seem to be spilling over outside the lines. Is that an artistic choice?

No, mostly mistakes that i didn't catch before. Just in the most recent strips, I started finding ways to prevent that... Plus, crowd scenes (Like in Todays comic) are something completely new to me. Never tried 'em before I started doing this. In fact, there's a lot of firsts for me in the first few pages. At some point, I plan on going back and fixing said errors, but for now, I'm more focusing on jsut making the new strips.
And I've never read Ender's Game.
