Is it me or does Kat look a little like Amelie Earhart, especially in that bravado rescue scene? ;D

Err... I think that she doesn't look like her, but could be compared with her plane. I don't really see a big connection, actually.

Welcome to the boards, Lucifiel!
I think her look in the rescue scene may be based on standard (if retro) pilot equipment -- e.g. protective glasses and pilot jacket. So yeah, she looks a bit there like old Amelia Earhart photos but that may be more coincidental than intentional.

I think anyone wearing massive goggles and a flight jacket looks pretty much like anyone else wearing massive goggles and a flight jacket.
Speaking of which - why does Kat even take those goggles with her? She never actually wears them properly. If I may resort to TV Tropes for a second (heracy!) it seems to be a case of Goggles Do Nothing.

If you have to ask why you bring the goggles, you will never truly understand the soul of Mad Science.

I don't share your speculative comparison to Miss Earhart, as it would be. Because old aviation goggles are pretty much the best thing ever. Also most goggles can be more difficult to see through than just not wearing them at all, and seeing as a hover-whatever wouldn't cause a lot of turbulence, you wouldn't need to protect your eyes.

Courtesy link.DittoAmelia looks like a lot of women really. It's the costume that does everything. If Kat wants to look like a biplane ace, good for her. I actually tend to give Kat a vaguely American accent however (same with Donny, not that it's particularly hard), maybe because I have no clue about Scottish accents except for Gratuitous Glaswegian and Gordon Brownian (that doesn't sound like a real accent because it isn't one). This is pretty terrible and I hope to fix it as soon as possible.

I mean, can't you just see the shadow in the doorway recast as Agatha Heterodyne saying "Need some help, kid? Hm.. an antigravity sled... you might need a bit more power."

I must be one of the few people who don't much care for Girl Genius, despite liking steampunk and being and active member of some communities thereof.
I don't know that I'd agree that Kat much looks like Earhart either, actually looking at pictures of Kat, and pictures of the late Amelie.
Anyone hear that they think they might have found her btw? On an island some 300 km(or was that miles?) from her target destination, marooned, and presumably eaten by coconut crabs.

And as for TV Tropes, this is where Kat "Took A Level In Bad@$$".

I'd say Kat reminds me a lot of Kimiko Ross from Dresden Kodak, especially in the latest chapter where she's wearing that bandana. Also the love for robots of course.
