Which name/design should we use for the [Pentacles] suit? I've used Pentacles here just so we know what the original was.

I thought the original suit name was "pentacles".
And, similar to my response in the "Cups" poll, I favor flexibility, so my "other" vote is for "round flat things that are not containers".
So coins, pentacles, gears, okay - pizza pans, not.
(Although if there's a really great concept that fits the card and needs pizza pans...)

I wouldn't call it rushing it.. seeing as those were all the things that the members who were inclined to do so suggested.
It seems that warrl supports the vague; which is all fine and good, except that these don't work as suit names:
ambiguous round-flat things ambiguous liquid-holding things ambiguous long-pointy things ambiguous long-thin-wooden things
However, since I have seen no actual suggestions from that direction and only some non-helpful grumbling, I would assume the choices already in the poll are fine.
Anyways, just because the suit name is 'gears' (for example) it doesn't mean you can't draw coins, discs, pentacles or even pizza pans. This deck isn't really conventional in any other way, and a name is sort of required for each suit (preferably a name that is a single word and not a huge explanation).
No offense warrl, you're entitled to your opinion and I don't necessarily disagree. I just think it's impractical.
Besides there are some fairly equivocal options already:
-Discs are anything that are both flat and round.
-Sticks are relatively long and slender pieces of anything (though the word commonly refers to wood).
-Swords are weapons that are long and have at least one sharp edge and also have a handle of some sort.
-Cups are open containers that hold liquid (within the range of being able to lift them with one or two hands).

I was more working on not constraining the art. Not so much on the suit names. I'd hate to see a really good three-dagger scene set aside in favor of three plain swords on a plain background because the suit name is swords not daggers. Names? Hm... sticks, vessels, blades, and discs? Don't really care so much.

That's interesting. I've not voted in the poll itself yet, but I'd argue either "Gears" (from coins) or "Symbols" (from pentacles). The ubiquity of alchemical symbols in the comics, encourages me towards the latter. But that the gear itself is an obvious symbol in Tom's treatises, encourages me towards the former.
I think I'll go for Gear.
