Antimony's mother made the stuffed wolf for her. Antimony uses the stuffed wolf to hide her lock picks. Now, did Surma purposefully make the wolf suitable for hiding the lock picks in full knowledge that her young daughter was going around picking locks--aiding and abetting as it were--or did Antimony merely adapt the wolf to her somewhat questionable purpose without the knowledge of her mother?
Surma purposefully making a hiding place for Antimony's tools strikes me as more plausible than it normally would, because Gunnerkrigg Court seems set up to encourage creative students to find ways around its rules, and the Court is where Surma received her education.

Hm, I haven't thought about ti that way. I've always just pictured Annie as being a clever girl who's good at improvising a solution when she needs one. But, she had to have gotten that somewhere...

Surma gave Annie her lockpicks, yes.

That is a wonderful tidbit of information. The other thing I wonder about is whether or not Anthony knew about them or not.

I would assume both the lock picks and the doll were two separate gifts, and that Annie herself improvised the clever way of carrying them around without anyone noticing. She's certainly bright enough to do so.

There's nothing like a set of burglary tools to remember your parent by.

Actually, I think that's eminently appropriate. She gave her an object of comfort (a stuffed animal), which also has a utilitarian and somewhat sneaky purpose. Seems to fit Surma pretty well.
