Choose one of theme suggestions follows. Don't worry about the names of the suits, we can settle that later. Poll Option | Presenter | Clubs | Cogs | Cups | Cutlasses | Original | Themes | Will, Force, Creativity | Matter | Emotion, Instinct | Thinking, Intellect | Original | Elements | Fire | Earth | Water | Air | Suggestion 1 | King Mir | nature/eather | science/tech | peace/coexistence | conflict/division | Suggestion 2 | Casey | forest scenes | technological scenes | love stories* | images with swords | Suggestion 3 | pepoluan | Forest | Court | Forest | Court | Suggestion 4 | Ulysses | Etherics/Magic/Forest | mediums and psychopomps** | Science | Science/Court | Suggestion 5 | Ulysses | Etherics/Magic/Forest | science | mediums/etheric science | Science/Court |
*use hearts instead of cups. ** keep as coins Distinction between the first two options is whether we try to represent the theme associated with each element, or just display the element. Since some of the other suggestions are not deep themes, I made these two separate so everyone can be clear about their vote. Some of the other options are similar too. Don't worry about this, just pick whichever. Vote for the option you like best. Whichever option gets the majority, not just plurality, is what we'll do. So don't be afraid to vote for an unpopular option. If none get a majority we can have a runoff eliminating options that have no chance. Don't be afraid to suggests other options either. We can always have another poll, with your option and the lead options here.

wait, does this chart assume we're using cogs instead of coins or pentacles? cause i thought that was one of the things we wanted to decide still

Well the way the suggestions were made, people seem connect the suit image with the theme. Most of the suggestions use cogs/gears.
Also Ulysses asked the question in the other thread a few weeks ago, and nobody said they preferred Coins. It's been weeks, so everyone interested had a chance to respond.
Actually that made me realize that I should remove the first **. That was a relic of my old post that lists the suggestions and compares them to the original.

I'm going to do a suit names poll once this one is over in order to sort all that sort of thing out. It'll be afterwards for reasons like if Suggestion 2 wins we'll have to have Hearts instead of Cups anyway.

i think we're making this more complicated than it needs to be. do we need to agree on themes for each suit? i just want to know if i should draw pentacles or coins or gears

According to Ulysses, we'll be deciding the names after this poll closes. I'd recommend holding off for the next little bit, unless you're doing things that are already definite, like Clubs are.

I'll bump this to say that we should give it until this time tomorrow.

According to Ulysses, we'll be deciding the names after this poll closes. I'd recommend holding off for the next little bit, unless you're doing things that are already definite, like Clubs are. They're not definitely called Clubs yet. I've seen Sticks and Staffs suggested, as well as the original Wands, plus there's probably some suggestions I've forgotten. It's kind of a vicious circle. Themes are dependent on the names, and names are dependent on themes. We'll probably lose a bit of choice whatever we pick first, but we have to pick something. I have a feeling most people won't worry too much about the chosen themes once the names are picked, but keeping the cards somewhat standardised would be nice. I don't want to hold anyone back, though, if they chose to ignore the themes and/or the names.

We can start those suit name polls.
