Although a flashback to Anthony, or having Annie tell a bit more about him, isn't out of the question. And it's something I would definitely enjoy. The residential was mentioned in the beginning of year assembly as something that would happen in the following academic year so it can't be more than a few months later. Tom said that the hiatus between chapters 22 and 23 corresponds with the winter holiday, which puts this chapter somewhere in the second semester of the Annie's 8th year.

Don't forget she can talk to Rey through the Blinker Stone. although anyone else like Kat talking to Rey would be difficult, Annie could do it. it would be a good "bonding experience" for the both of them if Annie was given her own tent with no one to talk to but Rey. Really? 'cause over here we call them "Hey-let's-go-outside-and-have-fun-today-instead-of-stay-inside-and-have-a-boring-lesson-and-who-cares-what-it's-called-it's-just-a-go-outside-and-have-fun-day-No-MATTER WHERE YOU ARE!!" days.

No no, that's different. I had teachers too who would hold class outside if the weather were permitting, etc. What I'm referring to is official, presumably educational trips for which you had to get a parent to sign a permission slip, and you would leave the school, usually in a big school bus, for some real world education, like going to the symphony, the science museum, the state capitol building, or the Blue Bell ice cream factory, just to name four that I can remember from 30 years ago.

We call them field trips too now, sadly. I wouldn't mind if we actually went to any fields. I have actually visited fields though, come to think of it, but not til uni.
It's amazing how we can get so much to discuss out of just a title page. Tom must be some kind of evil genius.

You guys got to go to the ice cream factory? The best field trip we ever got was a trip to the textile museum, and even then I was the only person who enjoyed going because I got to see a replica of the Bayeux tapestry.
Initially I thought it would be hilarious if in this chapter, Parley and Smith were made the group councilors for Annie and Kat's troop, but now that seems unlikely seeing as how we just saw them in the last chapter. Now I'm thinking that we're going to see some more of the kids from chapter 19, like Matt, Winsbury, John, Margot. We may even get to see whats up with Jack in this chapter, and learn more about whats happening to him.

I don't think that they both would be, Parley is older than Smitty, remember, so it's unlikely that two people in different years would be treated with the same responsibilities, as far as my memories of school go that would never happen. Although it would be interesting if Parley was Smith's councilor, although I would feel sorry for the poor man.
And hey, don't forget that we might see Paz again, whatever she's been doing.

Almost certainly avoiding the circus.
I think we'll get to see at least one new teacher this chapter, or possibly more. After all, it could be that Eglamore, Anja and Donny all go to help out, but I find that unlikely. They've got their own duties at the Court, they've got other stuff to do, although if something bad happens we might get to see Single Bound Eglamore with Kung-Fu Grip drop out of the sky into the middle of the campsite right on top of a bear. I have a feeling there will be some other teachers taking them camping, or possibly even some non-teachers who normally work elsewhere in the Court. That would be plot development - Annie: "I've never seen you around the school...what did you say you do?" Man: "Oh, I help run a huge power plant out in the middle of the lake. It's pretty awesome, we make fake rain." Dun Dun Duuuun.

Exactly, my train of thought was less about logic and more about how hilarious it would be to see the two in a position of authority. Hey maybe they'll get Bob the gardener to do something. They guy is important enough to be called to a meeting between the Woods and the Court, who knows what else he can do?

Also this. I don't know why people don't think Annie can take care of herself. I wouldn't want to mess with her.

Did some stuff just get deleted from this thread?
Edit: That was a bit odd. The forum index showed this thread had zero replies, and when I clicked the thread, it only showed the first page and no page selector until I made this post.

Thank goodness I'm not going mad from a lack of sleep. That actually was an occurrence to me as well, although there are two things. 1) I was not alarmed or even surprised, this happens to me on occasion. 2) I am going mad from lack of sleep. And I hope Bob is back, he's great! But maybe he has a lot of things to do. If he's important enough to be called to a meeting between the Wood and the Court, maybe he's more important than a mere gardener. Or maybe he's important because he's the only gardener.

Never underestimate the power of a gardener; the real reason he snorted at Rey's quip was because he was laughing at him, not with him. But seriously (or as serious as you can get about a webcomic) I was under the impression that all the staff were at the meeting.

I think Tom forgot the "P" at the beginning of the title.
Gunnerkrigg court is going to have a guest appearance of Obama, as he kicks back with the Director and Coyote and has a few cold ones.

Before they knew it, they would wake up from a drunken stupor only to realize they had filled the oval office with playpen balls.

I'm worried now. What kind of problem am I going to have? Financial? I've already got lots of those. Mental? More than a few of them, too. Those inverted commas around fun are especially forboding.

I'm more interested in knowing when we'll be able to read that "fun" chapter. Tom, would you be willing to tell us how long your comic buffer is at the moment?

But then Obama'll catch a glimpse of Boxbot and BAM! there goes the "special relationship" between the UK and US. No one would ally with a nation that contains boxbot. Not even Terriblterra, the nation of Boxbots.

It's approximately 30 pages, unless Tom's changed something since last time he answered that. That would most likely put the chapter he's referring to at Chapter 25, or the one after the one that has just started.

Tom normally keeps his buffer at 3 months ish, if I remember correctly. I'm very nervous about Tom's Twitter comment. Comics are an escape from problems, I don't want them to create new ones! I'm kidding, I have no problems. My life is perfect I would like something cleared up though. Which chapter was Tom referring to? Residential, or the chapter he's currently drawing. His comment was ambiguous. Edit: Ok well that's sorted. Ok well now I'm properly nervous. I was hoping for a run up so I could be angry properly. Don't destroy my dreams Tom! I beg of you

Going by the vagueness of the title, I can only make one reasonable guess about the 'problem':
Anthony: Hello, daughter. I have come back for you. Leave the Court and go off to live with me. By the way, I will not explain where I was or what I was doing. You understand.
Annie: Okay, Father. Goodbye, Kat and everything I've grown accustomed to.
I've also heard word that Paz may be making an appearance.

um...Anthony wouldn't be returning, as it hasn't been 2 years yet.
hahaha! XKCD = Win (sorry Tom if talking about another comic isn't acceptable. just saying)

Where did Tom say that Paz was making an appearance? This sounds to me more like one of those rumors that gets out of hand - the sort of thing that usually gets passed on with "I think I read or heard somewhere that" preceding it.

Actually I just wrote that as idle speculation, since people were naming all the students that might be out camping too and they left Paz out.

It was mentioned by Tom during the Parley Ustream. Could've been a mere tease, but I don't think that's the case.

well my guess is that random silhouette #5 from panel 6 of page 375 will almost definitely be making an appearance. that, and also random chick standing next to Bob the gardener. very important roles, those two.

Parley and Smitty as councillors? Now *that* makes me concerned... 1) Poor troop... They will be too busy exploring their new-found relation to seriously pay attention to the troop 2) I hope Parley and Smitty are of legal age... What's the legal age anyways in the UK? 3) I do hope GC maintains itself at a PG level... or whatever its equivalent for webcomics... ... .. . Alright, I think I've gone too far in speculating. Blame me on my addition to pr0n
