I hope Aspen d'Grey doesn't mind me making a thread for once! (just kiddin' ) But I just gotta comment. Anyway, I definitely have to remark on this one that Tom did a good job portraying an extremely wide expanse, and making Annie seem so much more organic than everything else. So I'm thinking Robot has some sort of huge standing to these other robots, after all, they're making models after him. Of course I'm keeping to my policy of NO PREDICTIONS because I'm always wrong! Also- I just LOVE how chummy Annie and Rey are becoming. He caaaareeesss!!

Annie has GREAT powers of recall. That thing with Robot must've been months ago and she actually remembered the number on the box.

Well, it was probably a pretty big thing at the time, not only that but she was breaking rules... that'd jam it in my memory pretty hard! You have to remember these things to create alibis.

If Robot had such a great standing, why was he shoved in a box with no apparent memory? The ultimate vacation/retirment? Robot may be one of many similar models.
So, we can add "huge robot society living in secret behind the scenes" to the list of funny business going on at Gunnerkrigg Court. I wonder how much of the vast facilities they operate and maintain.

Shiny! Did the room make anyone else think of StarWars?

So now we get to meet the robot on the title page. Robot's parts came from a box labeled #13? That may explain a lot about what happened to him afterwards. I take it that by now, everyone who expressed their disappointment that the first two pages of this story were about Shadow2 with nary a robot in sight have now forgiven Tom for that, in light of how many robots we've met in the chapter by now - and all of their memorable traits and habits?

'Course I don't care if someone else makes it. I'm sick and couldn't have waited up if I wanted too...
Todd- good catch on the #13 symbology.
Uglyhead- Agreed, I don't think that Robot was neccesarily in great standing, he was just another of that type of robot.
My2K- *nods* to the big thing at the time thing.

The droopy 'antenae' is a great touch.

I would like to say Annie wearing the antenna is the cutest thing I have seen in a month.

I would like to say Annie wearing the antenna is the cutest thing I have seen in a month. About a month, hmm... that's around when we were blessed with Zimmy's beautiful eyes. So yes, I agree. Annie an' antenna are the cutest thing I've seen in a month too. ;D (For me, I think the last panel in #198 is going to rank as the cutest thing ever for a looong time...) www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=198(...dreamy sigh...)

mrw- Well, yeah, that's 'cute', but still a sort of 'woah that's bloody CREEPY' kind of cute

mrw- Well, yeah, that's 'cute', but still a sort of 'woah that's bloody CREEPY' kind of cute Precisely. In this image, Zimmy walks the shadowy line between adorable and horrifying in an absolutely masterful way. I happen to find those twilight regions between darkness and light fascinating, and the more jagged the local contrast, the better. Well, the whole chapter was an exercise in contrast, with that image as the culminating juxtaposition, in my view. I was enthralled. Ow... does that even make any sense? Maybe I'm just weird.

I found Zimmy's new eyes a tad creepy myself, but the fact that she was so cheerful afterwards added some cuteness to the situation, retroactively.
But back to current concerns; You'd think that robots would use keycards and passcodes more than conventional locks, I wonder how useful Reynardine and the lockpicks are actually going to be during this daring infiltration.

They may not even use passcodes. Just connect directly to the doors, which may well be a different type of robot.

Twenty-four hours without a post? Ouch, my giraffe, that's gotta change. But I guess weekends between comic updates are bound to be a little slow.
Anywho, it's kinda funny how Annie's antennae seem to mime her feelings. Take a look at the last panel, and you'll see what I mean.
Also, thank you Mr. Siddel for an exclamation as awesome as "ouch, my giraffe". I plan on using it forevermore.

I once had a dream where cute, whimsical fantasy creatures fought dark, horror-fantasy creatures. Whimsy finally won because they had flying hedgehogs and no one could possibly compete with flying hedgehogs. But there was some pretty amazing switching of sides - like sea nymphs turned out to be Jenny Greenteeth secret agents and stuff. It was possibly the awesomest dream I ever had.

Shiny! Did the room make anyone else think of StarWars? Actually my first thought was of Cerebro, the huge machine Dr. Xavier uses in the X-men movies.
