For those of you that don't know, Tea is a character of Tom's who appears in several bonus pages 1234 but is never shown in the storyline, and is also a character of Tom's from works outside of GC. As we are doing the bonus pages in addition to the main storyline in the project, we need someone to voice Tea. But to me, Tea is not just any character, but something unique to Tom. So here is a proposal that I had, and I wanted to see what you all thought of this. If you don't like this idea, then we can put the character up for regular audition. My idea is that we open auditions for Tea immediately, but separately, in this thread. I'll leave this thread open for a certain amount of time for submissions, and then when we have all the submissions, we let TOM decide who should voice Tea. This would be a way to honor Tom and to also allow him to have a hand in this project. What do you think? This is of course subject to Tom's agreeing to do it. I might present the idea to him only to have him say that he doesn't want to choose, and that we should choose it the same way as all the others. But assuming he is going to like the idea, do you all like the idea? Please post your thoughts!

If Tom doesn't mind and nobody objects, I don't know why we shouldn't . It would be awesome and maybe Tom could give a general idea of she would sound like (we don't know much about Tea personality-wise and all that...)

I think that's a great idea.

Technically they're all unique to Tom... we wouldn't get him to pick every actor though. I can see where you're coming from, but as far as I can see she's a character the same as all the others and I think we should just cast her like another character.

So that's two in favor of bringing Tom in on it, and one against. Any other thoughts? Because I'm going to make a decision on this soon since we need the character pretty quickly.

I don't think it really matters. Ulysses is right, we're doing an interpretation of his original characters anyway, so why is Tea so important? I don't think it matters one way or the other.
Not that I wouldn't like Tom to be involved, just that I don't think he would care about the voice of one character any more than any other.

Actually, I think the point is that Tea isn't actually important to the story- descriptions are handy, but she's not really an integral part of the plot at all. I'd be totally down with the almighty Tom bypassing the democratic process for choosing the voice of a 'non-character.'

As I'm sure you all read, Tom said "Treat the character like any other".
Since it's my policy to give a minimum two week's notice for people to submit auditions before voting on a role, I really don't have much choice but to put the character on the May 23rd ballot. That is sort of late in the game, but on the other hand, since the character doesn't have to act against another role, and is really more of an informative, narrator type of voice that ought not need any real directing, I think we should be able to go straight to recording those lines as soon as the part is chosen.

We dont know too much about Tea, and one could even assume, from Tom's cryptic and consistently short answers (seriously, has the guy ever said anything on here more than four sentences long?) she could even be a real person Tom knows.
