That clearly means no one was really listening. We are a fickle bunch and we really need to find one person whose only job is to keep us on task

Sorry, I consider you all to be adults, and if you all have interest in being in the project, you will express that interest by participating in the project. There's no way someone else is going to hold anyone's hand and "make" them sit down and record their lines for a project that should be a privilege to get to participate in.
I don't know if you were just joking or not, but seriously, if there's anyone in the project who isn't self-motivated enough to record your own lines for the project, please let me know and I will work to fill that role with someone who has the requisite level of enthusiasm.

What is really sad, is, that the first chapter isn't even very big. All we need is Annie, Robot and the teacher. Yet we have nothing. (or I didn't see it)

I have all of Robot's and the Unnamed Teacher's lines.
And if anyone is unclear on what they owe me from Chapter 2, please ask me.

Hopefully our Annie will get busy with those lines. Yeah, sure, the project has drawn out but that's why it's gonna be awesome in the end. It's hard to coordinate so many people working on a loose-commitment basis project, but I have faith that we can and will do it. Remember guys, there's still the redneck versions to do as a treat afterwards, hahaha. Those were darn fun. Hopefully now that autumn is in full swing and everyone's back to their routines, there'll be more productivity in this part of the forum.

Rasselas has the right idea, and that's also part of the reason why I'm not pressuring people to record. It's not just that I think people's motivation should come from within them... it's also that, motivation or not, people are just going to have bigger priorities in their life.

I do kid about us being fickle, but honestly nothing is really holding us together at this point. I've talked to some of the others on Skype and I'm not sure anyone is really completely on it right now. We can't always stay on the same page and be up to the date on your every word. Call it babysitting if you must, but we are unorganized right now and you can't expect everyone to be instantly and magically rallied under one flag. We are lacking in some structure right now and if we ignore it because we think everyone is mature enough to handle that I think we're going to end up with a lot of people still confused. And I don't know if our wires got crossed or if this is just something that fell off my radar, but what lines are you talking about?

It's less about being unorganized and more about people not sending in their lines, p13. The collaborative effort is less important than the individual effort at this point.
Like Casey said, people are going to have bigger priorities, so we can't fault them for not contributing right this second, but no amount of organization is going to change the situation. People have been given their assignments and no one is going to force them to turn them in.

And I don't know if our wires got crossed or if this is just something that fell off my radar, but what lines are you talking about? Allright... for you for example. For Chapter 2 I have the original audio file that you used in your audition. It doesn't contain every line in the chapter though. I also have 2 re-recordings of your BLAAAAHH! and then one recording of the lines from p28. My last assignment to everyone was to make me a sample recording (doesn't matter what's in the recording) of 5 seconds of silence and then a period of regular speaking voice, with your entire environment as optimized as possible and the volume peaking at ~-9dB, with no post-op noise reduction. I was going to use those to determine whose environment was suitably noiseless for them to go ahead and proceed with recording. I've made a few other specific assignments beyond that to some people as well. My email address for sending me files is still caseygkcfp@yahoo.com. If anyone's going to send me anything to that address though, please also PM me here and let me know you did, because otherwise I won't check that account right away.

BTW I am glad that this conversation is coming up, because it means that people have returned from their summer activities and may have time to devote to this again. But I'm still not going to demand anything from you guys--it's not a paid gig, after all--and I just expect that people will send me stuff when they're able to.
However, again, if there's anyone who has not sent me stuff because they don't remember what I'm waiting on from them, please just drop me a line.

I know I already sent you a sample noise clip, but should I redo it if I'm planning on changing my recording area? I have some options now that I have a netbook. After that its just finishing off those lines from Ch. 2? I can make some time to do most of that this weekend, is thats all right?

Just chiming in with Rasselas - I think now that summer's over, stuff can start getting done. When we were talking on Skype all the time, the energy was really high - we were excited. I'm still excited, and I don't even have a part until Ch. 8! (And I'd like to get to do it, eh? ) This is just the standard slowness of coming back from a break - I think that now that we've got a dialogue open, we'll be able to get back that enthusiasm. Might I suggest that we have a brief voice chat on Skype sometime over the next couple of weeks? Nothing mandatory or business-y, just to get reacquainted with everyone, try to get the energy rolling again, make sure everyone's on the same page, etc. Over the summer, it's easy to just flat-out forget stuff, but it's much harder to forget a person and a voice (a Kermit the Frog impression...) than text on a screen, in my experience. I agree, the individual effort is paramount at the moment, but what can I say? I miss you guys.

Aye, we need to get the excitement rolling again and banish the "ohmygod the project is stalling because of MEEE OH GOD OH GOD MUST IGNORE IT OR FEEL HORRIBLE" fairies. So we had a long break. SO WHAT I TELL YOU.
The show must go on.
I agree that a meet-up on skype would be beneficial. I realize that our longer chats were kind of productivity-impeding, partly productivity in the project, partly IRL. We should probably make them a bit shorter and more to the point, but I do think we need one just to shake away the long break jitters and get some excitement rolling. Also it's gonna be great hearing from you dudes again. We might not manage to get everyone on board for the first chat, but any fire needs time to grow.
I'm lookin' at you, Mr. Casey, our organization-man. Lookin' at you through my crazy monocle.

Let me let that shake out some and make sure that my primary ducks are all in a row, and then we'll see about a Skype meeting. Perhaps the late part of next week or the early part of the following. In the meantime, if all of you who have lines in the first four chapters just want to drop me a PM and say "I'M STILL ALIVE", that would be good because it would do no good to call a meeting if people aren't around to see the notification.

Hmm, Aricos's Skype account says "Voice Status: Deceased" and in the quote part it says "Zombie Attack", so I don't know what that means.

It means Aricos has a funny sense of humor and a penchant for zombies.

Or that Holland has actually been taken over by zombies. Perhaps we'll never know.

As long as Aricozombie still has that adorable voice, we should be fine.

Fact: Holland is not overrun by the zombies. Fact: Haha. Fact: I'm still amongst the living. Haha. Fact: I have humor. Nobody likes it much in the real world . Un-fact: I have an adorable voice. Fact: I've been busy is all, but I would like to meet up and blabla on Skype again . But he'll only be able to say "Braaains..." Fact: Otoko? NON! Je suis une femme... I swear... Seriously!

Gomen, gomen... J'ai assumé 'garçon' de votre nom... honestly! Haha, it's all peachy, just messing around . I get that a lot on message boards. (Although, Venus has a male ending, but is actually female, if that makes any grammatical sense...)

Been in a bit of a slump for several reasons, but my assignment will be coming. If it doesn't turn up soon, Casey has my mobile numbr and he is free to call me up and shout at me :3

So good to have everyone talking again~
It's been a couple weeks, we're well into fall and our routines...when might be able to gather up a few people on Skype?

I'm on Skype most of the time nowadays, as I'm working from home. Feel free to chat me up. Hopefully more people will start turning on their skypemachines? Maybe we could meet up tentatively at around the same time we used to meet before, weekdays GMT afternoons?

I have a particularly odd work schedule - a day off here, two days there - so any time I'm actually around for any Skype meetings will probably be entirely by chance. I'm around every evening though, so I should be able to make any chats then.
