I like how most characters have slightly different skin colors. But because they do, I'm not sure what to make of Zimmy's ashen color. Do you consider it to be in the expected range of variation for Gunnerkrigg characters (it does seem like the Headmaster's is quite similar), or is it intended to suggest something like unhealthiness or unnaturalness or even just griminess?

goatmon- my school had a motto and it was carved into the stonework at founding. Tom, were there any myths in particular that lent inspiration to the beasties delivering Mort's letter from Antimony? Just random ones, really. Devils and demons and orcs and water ghouls and things like that.

To put an end to this pronunciation confusion once and for all I'm posing this question as simply as possible while making it as difficult as possible for a simple answer to throw it all off. Pronunciations are spelled phonetically along with the Wikipedia-accurate pronunciations in parentheses. If neither is right... Then everyone is wrong.. Or I screwed up somewhere...
"Ann-tih-muh-nee" (ænˈtɪməni) or "Ann-the-moh-nee" (æntɨmoʊni)?

p13volution, I think to make the issue clearer we need to ask Tom in a way that the emphasis is clear. When Tom answered the question the first time, the problem was that there was no clear indication of where the emphasis was... as is true in your two examples as well.
There are two accepted pronunciations of the word with two different emphases, and it is this emphasis that we really need to know in order to understand which pronunciation Tom is going for.
Therefore I would submit that the question should read (with emphases) does he pronounce it "ann-TIM-uh-knee", or "ANN-tuh-moe-knee".

How much do you mind when people ask you questions that have popped up in here before? What about the annoying ones, like "Is Brinnie Jones/Gamma's Mum/Time-Travelled Paz?" or "Can Reynardine possess [implausible item]?"

Is anyone else getting a 404 error when trying to open the audio from the page Tom linked? In any case, I can see from the phonetic pronunciation guide that Tom pronounces it "ANN-tuh-moe-knee", which is interesting because that's (as far as I've been able to tell in my research) the US pronunciation... whereas I grew up in the US and only ever heard the UK pronunciation. But we should follow Tom's wishes on this I suppose. Actually maybe we should ask the question: Tom, do you care which way we pronounce it in the Fan Project?

Ben I don't mind too much if questions are repeated, since I know it's unrealistic to expect everyone to read everything from the previous threads. Questions about Reynardine's body possession powers are no longer answered, however.

Was Anja's creation of the computer more for Donny's sake than Reynardine's?

In that case, would either have been enough to kill it alone? Some other questions I have been having: - Do Zimmy and/or Gamma attend any normal classes?
- Does Gamma know any English? They aren't exactly social butterflies, but I would have thought Gamma might have picked up some English when Zimmy translated what she just heard.
- I am very unsure of how to word this, but here goes: Jones stated that Surma "was the last member of the Court allowed Gillitie Wood." There are two interpretations one could take from the word "last." The first is that it meant "most recent," as in "Every once in a while they allow Court members into the Wood, and she was the most recent." It could also mean "final," as in "when Gillitie banned humans, Surma was the last person who got a chance to go in. Which is it?

Do the Shadow-men feel pain? And do they have indeterminate masses and volumes?

1, Yeah. 2, They attend regular clases when they (Zimmy) feel like it. Which isn't very often. 3, Not really. Gamma doesn't have much interest in learning English. She might know a couple words when she hears them. 4, Last as in most recent.

After their return from ZimCity in "Power Station," Antimony and Jack have dark lines around their eyes that weren't there before. Is this the same kind of eye gunk that Zimmy has?
Also, is the darkness around Antimony's eyes after her night by the Annan Waters (as in #149) also Zimmy-like eye gunk, or just bagginess from being tired? (I incline toward the latter, but since it was 400 internets ago, maybe minor eye gunk has undergone stylistic change.)

So - just to make certain that I've understood the latest page correctly - the dog-tree creature was reduced almost completely to splinters by the blow from the glowing sword? That the tiny fragments we saw are all that remains of it, rather than just the tree on its back?

"Gunnerkrigg Court" was first published in book form (the first seven chapters) by lulu.com. Would you recommend lulu.com for anyone interested in self-publishing? (I recently finished writing a children's fantasy novel that I'd like to have published, and have been searching for ways of getting that done.)

If your novel is text only then you should be able to get it printed with Lulu at a good rate, and it is a good way to get a physical copy of your work. However it isn't any more "published" than if you'd printed it yourself on your home printer. If the book is good and you want to get it to more than a few hundred people (if that) through Lulu, then send it to a literary agent or a publisher.

What about Gamma's eyes (e.g., #83): does she wear eyeshadow, or are her eyes naturally sort of shadowy (like Winsbury's), or is it constant tiredness, or something else?
