1. I seem to remember some time ago that you insisted on not using rulers for making Court architecture perfectly straight. Have you kept to that in your more recent chapters? 2. We haven't seen all that much of the Court's combat-machines that are chasing the Woodbeast yet, but they don't seem to be equipped with projectile weapons like guns. Is this an intentional design choice, perhaps to minimize the risk of collateral damage, Or do you just think it's neater and cooler to have them slug it out? 1, I've always used rulers when sketching/drawing the pages, but I never use a ruler when inking anything. 2, Projectile weapons are not used on school grounds, or in close quarters. It depends on the threat.

Tom, I just noticed that Book 1 comprised 294 strips. We're approaching 600. Is there a Book II in the works? *hint* *drool* *twitch* The second book is finished and ready to go. I just need to figure out if there will be one or not. You know what that means: TREATISE!!!! I hope I hope I hope I hope....

What you said can be applied to any country and any language in the world. Subsequently, people who get offended by the utterly irrelevant situation of foreigners not being able to identify their unique regional accent can cram it up their ass, just like the rest of us have to.
This forum, and this thread especially, is not a soapbox. Posts treating it as such will be removed.

I apologize and will remove the offending post. I just thought it was something people should be aware of in the interest of greater understanding. I've found the people on this forum to actively care about that sort of thing and so just thought I would point it out as, really, some people AREN'T aware, just from lack of exposure, that all Native Americans don't speak the same language or with the same accent. Again, sorry. To try and make this more in line with the target of this topic, here's a question: Are the robots shown here still in use at the court?

If book 2 comes out, I will totally buy it! Here's my question: How far are we into your planned story arc? 1/3 of the way through? 1/2? About how many chapters have you planned for Gunnerkrigg court? Also, reading your work schedule, I'm impressed by your work ethic. I can't even convince myself to look at grad schools by the time I get home from work. I don't know how long the whole story will be, and it's pretty flexible. I tend to work a few chapters ahead though, and the outline is more vague beyond that. I did a bit of arithmetic and figured that, as a very rough estimate and with certain not-very-credible assumptions, it'll be about 22 additional real-world years before Katrina and Antimony graduate. Tom, are you likely to cover future events with fewer pages per in-story year? (Right now you're at 552 pages for very-roughly one year.)

In chapter 21, Antimony fumbled the blinker stone the two times she 'found' it, and she just put it down on the bench when Anja took her and Kat back into the office. (Even if I could find my keys or phone that way, I still wouldn't put them down just anywhere and walk away, not even at home.) So I think there must be some significance to those actions, or am I overinterpreting again?

You mentioned that you use a Wacom Cintiq to draw the comic.
1. 12" or 21"? 2. If you can sketch decent art on paper, would you say that it wouldn't take much time to pick up a Cintiq pen and do the same? 3. If not, how long did it take you to get used to drawing with one?
I've been tossing around the idea of getting one myself, but the cheapest one I can find is $800 for the 12", refurbished.

Hey Tom. Did you script out your comics before drawing them? Because if you did, would there be a way to get the previous chapters in script form or something?

The chapters are all scripted, but they are for my eyes only. Sorry.

On your Twitter, what did you mean by 'I think the end of my forum is now in sight'? Are you planning to close the forum?

First off, I am really hoping for a volume 2 of Gunnerkrigg Court in print form. I just think it looks better in print form. Would it have the letters from Kat in it?
If the blinker stone is attached to something (like in a necklace), will summoning it with your mind bring the whole necklace or just the stone?

It would bring just the stone.

Has your strip buffer always stayed about the same size? I.E., have you ever drawn more or less than three comics in a weekend?

I've bought 4 copies of the book so far, and plan to buy more this xmas for family and friends. Reading the strip online is cool, but the book is far better.
I can't wait for book 2.
I will be at comic-con, and it'd be great to see you there, Tom. It's tons of fun.

Sometimes I don't have the time to work on three pages, or sometimes I have extra time. I try my best to not let it slip but I can't account for every situation. It can be kind of stressful.

Hey Tom. I'm a long time reader, and I've been wondering this for awhile: in www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=452 this strip, who's Janet's dad? I could just be me being unobservant, but I don't recall ever seeing that mentioned. I just recently re-read the entire comic, and I think I would remember if it came up.

Janet's dad is the Headmaster (Ch. 14). Edited for this link.

^^^EDIT: Grr, beaten
Tom, when you first put your comic online, did you post a single page, or did you make a large enough cache of comics to post a number of pages (or much of the first storyline) in addition to your buffer?

I only put the comic up one page at a time right from the beginning, rather than blow the whole buffer in one go.

I prefer to answer questions in this thread myself. My apologies Tom, I mistakenly thought it would be helpful to knock out the ones that are common knowledge so you wouldn't have to. Cheers!

Is it common for people to attach blinker stones to ornate things (just like other gems), given that summoning the thing would leave that all behind and bring just the stone?

Are all the current models of robot based on forms found in that underground arena?
ie. Have there been new models of robot originally created since Diego's time?

No, for exactly the reason you mentioned. You don't even have to take particularly good care of one, since you can never lose it and is difficult to break.

Can you give an average percent of people on the Court who own blinker stones?
