ANNIE: My name is Antimony Carver. I would like to share with you the strange that took place while I attended school at...

-PANEL 1-

ANNIE: Gunnerkrigg Court does not look much like a school at all.

ANNIE: It closer resembles a large industrial complex than a place of learning.

-PANEL 2-

Side panel, no voices...

-PANEL 3-

ANNIE: Within the first week of my attendance, I began noticing a number of strange occurences.

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: The most prevalent of these oddities being the fact that I seem to have obtained a second shadow.

ANNIE: At times I would see this creature jump from shadow to shadow...

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: (continued) ...once in a while hiding in the dark recesses of the court.

ANNIE: This made difficult my attempts to convey the situation to members of the faculty...

There could be a little background chatter of Annie trying to show Shadow 2 to the teacher...

ANNIE: (continued) ...as my uninvited guest seemed to shy away from attention.

ANNIE: More often than not, however, this grim spectre matched my every step.

ANNIE: One evening, during solitary study...

ANNIE: (continued) ...I decided to confront the being.

SOUND EFFECT: Light switching on

Annie confronting Shadow 2, no voices...

ANNIE: Hello. Can you understand me?

-PANEL 2-

Shadow 2 only, no voices...

-PANEL 3-

Shadow answers YES.

SOUND EFFECT: Little spider descending via silk line.

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: What do you want from me?

Shadow 2 asks for HELP.

-PANEL 5-

ANNIE: Help?

Shadow 2 says ESCAPE.

SOUND EFFECT: Little spider is surprised.

-PANEL 6-

ANNIE: You want to escape? Where are you trying to go?

-PANEL 7-

Shadow 2 points, no voices...

-PANEL 8-

Window shot of Gillitie Forest, no voices...

SOUND EFFECT: distant foresty noises.

-PANEL 1-

ANNIE: After further questioning, I was able to ascertain that my new friend,

-MID PANEL-

ANNIE: (continued) ...whom I imaginatively titled Shadow 2,

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE:: (continued) ...was unable to exist anywahere without shade.

-PANEL 3-

ANNIE: It had pointed to Gillitie Wood, which lay across a bridge that spanned the Annan Waters. I assumed this was its home.

ANNIE: Shadow 2 had been stuck here for quite some time.

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: Unfortunately, the bridge is lined with powerful lights that eliminate any shadow...

-PANEL 5-

ANNIE: (continued) ...and was of considerable length.

Tom's Comment: Gunnerkrigg Court is a boarding school, which is why Annie is still there at night.

Page 6:

-PANEL 1-

ANNIE: Shadow 2 was barely able to venture outside without me providing cover underfoot.

SOUND EFFECT: Tapping shoes on concrete steps

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: And the Annan Waters at the bottom of the ravine posed an impassable obstacle on his own.

-PANEL 3-

ANNIE: Though he could not say why.

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: As I was forbidden from setting foot off school grounds, I could not walk Shadow 2 to Gillitie Wood myself.

-PANEL 5-

ANNIE: There was only one sensible resolution to this problem.

-PANEL 6-

ANNIE: I must construct a robotic walking device which will provide you with transit across the bridge.

ANNIE It soon became clear that I hadn't the first idea how to build a robot

SOUND EFFECT: Shadow 2 playing paddle ball.

Annie could also provide a little "Hmm..." as she realizes she hasn't any idea how to build a robot.

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: So I had to prepare for arduous study in the field of robotics.

-PANEL 3-

ANNIE: As well as devise a way of collecting a working raw materials into usable parts with which to create my little tin man.

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: The library seemed like a good place to start.

Shadow 2 could make a quizzical noise indicating he's found something.

-PANEL 5-

Annie taking note of what Shadow 2 has found, no voices...

-PANEL 6-

ANNIE: ...or not.

-PANEL 1-

Annie peeks into room, no voices...

SOUND EFFECT: Door creaking...

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: Luck was with me...

-MID PANEL of 3 and 4-

ANNIE: Snatching a nearby box of spare parts I hastened back to study hall.

-PANEL 5-

shot of STUDY HALL sign, no voices...

-PANEL 6-

ANNIE: I appeared to have everything I needed to complete my task.

-PANEL 1-

ANNIE: Luckily, piecing the contraption together was relatively easy.

SOUND EFFECT: The clicks and clacks of making a robot.

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: And before long, it was complete.

-PANEL 3-

ANNIE: However, I was yet to know if it could accomplish what I had in mind.

SOUND EFFECT: Push button effect that sounds like BLOOP

-PANEL 4-

SOUND EFFECT: Elevator ding

ROBOT: Why hello there!

ANNIE: Hello, Robot.

-PANEL 5-

SOUND EFFECT: quiet clink as Robot hops off desk

ROBOT: Thank you for putting me back together!

ANNIE: You're welcome.

ANNIE: (continued) I'm sorry I couldn't find your other arm.

-PANEL 6-

ROBOT: Not to worry! You did a good job!

Page 10:

-PANEL 1-

ANNIE: Together, the three of us returned to the bridge.

ANNIE: Shadow 2, you stay inside a moment. It's still light outside.

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: Robot, I need you to do something for me. I need you to walk across this bridge to take my friend home.

-PANEL 3-

ROBOT: Sure thing! I'm good at walking!

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: It is a long way. What if you fall down?

-PANEL 5-

ROBOT: Hmm...

-PANEL 6-

ROBOT: Well, you never know unless you try.

ANNIE: Indeed.

SOUND EFFECT: Clank!

-PANEL 7-

ANNIE: Tonight then. Before evening classes, you will make your journey.

ANNIE: Once darkness fell, Shadow 2, Robot, and I got ready at the foot of the bridge.

ROBOT: So I just walk straight?

ANNIE: That's right.

-PANEL 2-

ROBOT: Do I have to come back?

-PANEL 3-

ANNIE: (pause) Only if you want to.

-PANEL 4-

Robot looks up at Annie, no voices...

-PANEL 5-

ANNIE: Ok shadow 2, you can finally go home. I hope your journey finds you well.

-PANEL 6-

ROBOT: Well, let's be off!

-PANEL 7-

ANNIE: Goodbye Robot. Goodbye Shadow 2.

-PANEL 8-

ROBOT: Bye mommy!

Annie heads up steps, no voices.

SOUND EFFECT: Annie's foot steps.

ROBOT: I'm good at walking.

SOUND EFFECT: Robot walking

ROBOT: Such a nice evening.

ROBOT: Never fear, little guy. I have this under control.

Annie looks out over bridge, no voices.

Annie could probably be giving a little sigh though...

Annie entering building.

SOUND EFFECT: Wood door creaking...

NAMELESS TEACHER: Miss Carver. What are you doing out here?

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: Sorry sir. I got lost.

-PANEL 5-

NAMELESS TEACHER: Yes, well. Come along now. Evening classes are about to begin.

Annie going through another door.

Perhaps with another door creaking noise going off...

Door closes, no voices.

-Bonus Page: House Structure-

TEA: Like most schools in the United Kingdom, the students at Gunnerkrigg Court are divided into four houses.

TEA: (continued) Each year of every house has a north and south class. This means there are eight classes in each year.

TEA: (continued) Antimony is in the first year of Queslett North, so her class number is 7qn.

ANJA: Okay children, settle down. Good morning.

STUDENTS: Good Morning, Mrs. Donlan!

-PANEL 2-

ANJA: Registration in ten minutes. Talk amongst yourselves 'till then.

-PANEL 3-

ANJA: Antimony, dear, how have you found your first two weeks at our school?

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: Very well miss, thank you.

-PANEL 5-

ANJA: Very good. I hope you've made lots of new friends.

-PANEL 6-

WILLIAM: Now likely miss! She's always swotting around study hall. (laughs)

-PANEL 7-

Annie just stares at William, no voices...

-PANEL 8-

WILLIAM: (chuckles)

-PANEL 9-

Annie still stares at William.

-PANEL 10-

WILLIAM: (Audibly Silent)

ANJA: hmmm...

ANJA: There is nothing wrong with getting ahead in your studies.

-PANEL 2-

ANJA: You might do well to follow her example, William.

WILLIAM: Yes miss.

ANNIE: It was true. As I had been preoccupied with the events that transpired those two weeks, I hadn't had the time to get to know my fellow classmates.

ANNIE: However, there was one girl...

KAT: Antimony!

KAT: Wait for me!

ANNIE: Katerina, isn't it?

KAT: Oh, call me Kat.

KAT: Where are you going?

KAT: You should come to the playground!

KAT: Can I call you Annie, by the way?

ANNIE: Later that day.

WILLIAM: (snoring)

-PANEL 2-

ANOTHER NAMELESS TEACHER: ...and that concludes a brief exposition on the creation of mythology.

-PANEL 3-

SOUND EFFECT: School bell ringing

ANOTHER NAMELESS TEACHER: Before you go, I have some homework for you.

-PANEL 4-

ANOTHER NAMELESS TEACHER: I want you to all go away in pairs and find as much information as you can on a mythological creature of your choice.

KAT: (snorting awake) ...wuh?

-PANEL 5-

ANOTHER NAMELESS TEACHER: Tomorrow you will present your findings in class.

Kat should also be heard yawning

-PANEL 6-

KAT: We should work together!

ANNIE: I'd like that.

KAT: Do you have a mythical figure in mind?

ANNIE: I was thinking of covering the minotaur.

-PANEL 2-

KAT: The what?

-PANEL 3-

ANNIE: The ancient greek beast who was part bull and part man.

ANNIE: Born of Pasiphae, queen to Minos, the Cretan King.

-PANEL 4-

KAT: Oh.

-PANEL 5

KAT:Library, then?

ANNIE: Indeed.

ANNIE: Is this all there is?

ANNIE: I expected there to be more books.

KAT: Well, the rest of the library is taken up with science and technology literature. (beat) Science is this school's specialty.

-PANEL 5-

KAT: That's the old part of the library I think. I've never been there myself.

-PANEL 6-

ANNIE: Then let's look. I prefer older books.

KAT: Hey, Annie! Is this the guy were talking about?

SOUND EFFECT: The sound of a stone button being pressed

SOUND EFFECT: Heavy rumbling.

A loud accompaning BOOM would be nice

ANNIE: It certainly is.

Annie and Kat enter maze, no voices...

Kat: Is that a map?

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: Yes, for a cretan labyrinth, just like one Knossos, where the minotaur lived.

-PANEL 5-

KAT: So we won't get lost if we went in, because there are no deadends, like in a maze.

-PANEL 6-

ANNIE: That's right. A man named Theseus went into the labyrinth on Knossos to slay the minotaur, and used a thread to find his way back out.

ANNIE: But he didn't really need one, since there was only one path to take.

Page 10:

-PANEL 1-

KAT: So where did you go before you came here to the court, Annie?

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: I was in a hospital.

-PANEL 3-

KAT: Oh? Were you sick?

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: No, but my mother was.

ANNIE: She was bedridden after I was born, and we couldn't bear to be apart. So I lived with her and she taught me all that she could. (beat) My father was a surgeon there.

-PANEL 5-

ANNIE: She passed on a month ago.

ANNIE: It was her wish that I continue my education here.

-PANEL 6-

KAT: Oh, Annie, I'm so sorry.

ANNIE: (audible silence)

SOUND EFFECT: Kat sniffling

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: So um...tell me about your parents.

-PANEL 3-

KAT: (sniffles) Oh, Mrs. Donlan is my mum. She's a science teacher.

-PANEL 4-

ANNIE: Really? How fortunate for you. She seems very nice.

-PANEL 5-

KAT: She is! My dad is a science teacher here too! They...

-PANEL 6-

BASIL: BLaaaaaaaaaaaah!

KAT: EEEK! (this should be a good one...)

Tom's Comment: Luckily, Annie is saved from am (typo?) awkward social moment by a great big shouty guy

BASIL: Who dares intrude on the minotaur's lair?!

-PANEL 2-

ANNIE: Hello, sir. My name is Antimony.

-PANEL 3-

Basil the Minotaur is surprised, no voices...

Could be accompanied by Basil mumbling, slightly confused.

Antimony reach for Basil's big hand.

BASIL: Good day.

-PANEL 6-

BASIL: Phew, you girls gave me a fright, sneaking around like that.

SOUND EFFECT: Basil sitting down in a big comfy chair.

ANNIE: It would appear that we just completed our homework.

BASIL: Oh, that, sheesh.

BASIL: See, when I was young, it was hard to meet people my own age, being stuck in the middle of a giant death maze and all.

BASIL: So my mum (that's Pasiphae) arranged a party for my birthday. (beat) But then that jerk Theseus showed up.

BASIL: Let me tell you, he got drunk, he broke my sofa, and he started a fight.

BASIL: He even tried it on with my stepsister, Ariadne.

BASIL: Everyone had to leave early.

BASIL: He ruined my whole birthday.

-PANEL 4-

BASIL: No sir, I didn't like it.

-PANEL 5-

BASIL: And now, of course, I turn out to be the bad guy.

ANNIE: And this is how a myth is borne of the constant re-telling and misinterpretation of a simple story.

KAT: Thank you very much, Basil!

Although someone could be making noises like a gasping fish...

ANNIE: I would recommend a round of applause.

SOUND EFFECT: Unsure clapping

BASIL: Oh you are too kind. Come and visit some time!

SOUND EFFECT: Crunching sound as Basil breaks the door frame with his horns

Bonus Page: Sleeping Arrangements

TEA: Each student in year 7 sleeps in their own individual bunk. These are fully equiped with a bed, wardrobe, mirror, drawer space and communications terminal.

TEA: Each house has a male and female dorm which hold the 30 students from the north and south classes. The bunks are stacked on top of eachother.

TEA: As Antimony started the school year late, the only available bunk was number 30, which is at the very top of the Queslett girls' dorm.

TEA: Each year the accomodations change.

ANNIE: Games Lesson.

KAT: Hey! Give that back! I had it first!

WILLIAM: Why should I? It's mine now.

-PANEL 4-

WILLIAM: So what are you going to do about it?

SOUND EFFECT: Somone being shoved.

-PANEL 5-

Someone grabbing William's wrist, no voices...

SOUND EFFECT: Someone grabbing a wrist...

WILLIAM: Huh?

WILLIAM: Waah!

Although Eglamore giving an ammused, "Hmph..." might be in order

EGLAMORE: But that was a great throw! And very noble to stand up for a friend like that.

ANNIE: Thank you, sir.

EGLAMORE: And Donlan, are you okay?

KAT: Yes, Mr. Eglamore!

ANNIE: He comes across as quite the gentleman.

Perhaps a distinctive ringing can be heard for the Pendant

KAT: What's that? It's lovely.

ANNIE: It's a necklace my mother gave to me.

KAT: That's the alchemist's symbol for antimony. I love that old stuff, it's so hokey!

SOUND EFFECT: School Signal for sleepy time. Should sound something like Voop Voop!

KAT: Time for bed!

KAT: Night Night!

ANNIE: Sleep well.

ANNIE: Later that night...

ANJA: Is everyone here?

The siren still has yet to let up...

ANJA: Katja!

KAT: Mum! Annie is missing!

I can bet the siren is still going...

Tom's Comment: "Katja" is what Mrs. Donlan calls her daughter sometime.

Annie trapped on her bunk, no dialogue...

Accompanied by alot of rumbling from falling debri

ANNIE: I can't get down.

SOUND EFFECT: A loud howling

ANNIE: What a strange sound...

Annie climbing a fallen girder, no dialogue...

There could be the sound of her footsteps, if light. As well as whatever light grunts and groans as she makes as she climbs

Annie could also probably make one last groan as she reaches the top...

REY: You look so much like her...

REY: Ah! But forgive me.

REY: My name is Reynardine.

Actually, I do use the transcripts, but it's more to make notes on for when I record the lines. (I mean, I'd feel bad about making notes in my book...)

Transcripts are a bad idea; people reading right off the comic have the advantage of knowing what the full context is as well as what character inflection should be made.

Notes, ehh, I'm notorious to my directors for not marking up my lines, so I'm a biased when I say they're useless.
