ANNIE:: (continued) ...was unable to exist anywahere without shade.

ANNIE: It had pointed to Gillitie Wood, which lay across a bridge that spanned the Annan Waters. I assumed this was its home.
ANNIE: Shadow 2 had been stuck here for quite some time.

ANNIE: Unfortunately, the bridge is lined with powerful lights that eliminate any shadow...
-PANEL 5-
ANNIE: (continued) ...and was of considerable length.
Tom's Comment: Gunnerkrigg Court is a boarding school, which is why Annie is still there at night.

ANNIE: Shadow 2 was barely able to venture outside without me providing cover underfoot.
SOUND EFFECT: Tapping shoes on concrete steps

ANNIE: And the Annan Waters at the bottom of the ravine posed an impassable obstacle on his own.

ANNIE: Though he could not say why.
-PANEL 4-
ANNIE: As I was forbidden from setting foot off school grounds, I could not walk Shadow 2 to Gillitie Wood myself.

ANNIE: There was only one sensible resolution to this problem.

ANNIE: I must construct a robotic walking device which will provide you with transit across the bridge.

ANNIE It soon became clear that I hadn't the first idea how to build a robot
SOUND EFFECT: Shadow 2 playing paddle ball.
Annie could also provide a little "Hmm..." as she realizes she hasn't any idea how to build a robot.

ANNIE: So I had to prepare for arduous study in the field of robotics.

ANNIE: As well as devise a way of collecting a working raw materials into usable parts with which to create my little tin man.

ANNIE: The library seemed like a good place to start.
Shadow 2 could make a quizzical noise indicating he's found something.

Annie taking note of what Shadow 2 has found, no voices...

ANNIE: ...or not.

ANNIE: (continued) I'm sorry I couldn't find your other arm.

ROBOT: Not to worry! You did a good job!

ANNIE: Together, the three of us returned to the bridge.
ANNIE: Shadow 2, you stay inside a moment. It's still light outside.

ANNIE: Robot, I need you to do something for me. I need you to walk across this bridge to take my friend home.

ROBOT: Sure thing! I'm good at walking!
-PANEL 4-
ANNIE: It is a long way. What if you fall down?

ROBOT: Hmm...
-PANEL 6-
ROBOT: Well, you never know unless you try.
ANNIE: Indeed.
SOUND EFFECT: Clank!

ANNIE: Tonight then. Before evening classes, you will make your journey.
