Is there anyone who managed to save the version with the extra bubble that would care to post it here for us that missed it? Oh no! It has gone! That's a shame, I was looking forward to all the GC newcomers going "Why does Surma sound so annoyed in this panel?" As for Anja's eyes: COINCIDENCE??

Goodness gracious, I just read the comments under today's page...are people really that dense!? I can understand missing it at first, and then going back and looking at it, if perhaps you'd forgotten that Anja's nickname was Anny, or maybe you were reading too fast and not paying attention to the art, but...but! I swear three quarters of them are variations of people going "EXCUSE ME DID YOU MEAN TO SAY ANNY THAT'S NOT ANNY!!!" screeeeamBasic reading comprehension, comments page people! They could at least take a moment to read and see if anyone had already answered their question before jumping to point out a "mistake". This topic was better, at least, with people politely requesting to have their confusion remedied, and with no one flailing their arms about in a panic about it all. I'm just going to say that I understood the meaning right off and didn't see the confusion. It wasn't your fault, Tom. Don't let it get to you, all right? --------- Past all that business...this page has made me really want to see what the extent of Anja's "magic" is. ZAPPITY! I'll have to be honest and say that I am most interested in her backstory. Even though she's the one in this chapter that we actually already know the most about. Or maybe, because of that? Either way, I'm personally rooting for more Anja backstory. Loving this chapter so far. ---- and for my next trick, I'll make my post even longer!---- COINCIDENCE?? I HOPE THAT DOES NOT MEAN THIS SHALL HAPPEN:

Hi there! I'm new to this forum (long-time reader) but Tom finally provoked me into joining today. Did anyone save the multiple versions of today's comic? I heard the one with the "bonus bubble" is pretty funny and would love to have seen it!

I was hoping the "So says me" version would be up a bit longer, it was funny.

I HOPE THAT DOES NOT MEAN THIS SHALL HAPPEN: Oh god. Oh god!... Nah she'd never do it though. She's probably thinking something along the lines of, "Oh noes, if I did that, then I'd freak Donny out!" Even though he is blatantly attracted to her...

I have the special edition of 385 stashed away forever ( thread). It would be nice if Tom made all the special edits and bonus drawings available in an extras gallery somewhere.

Past all that business...this page has made me really want to see what the extent of Anja's "magic" is. ZAPPITY! I'll have to be honest and say that I am most interested in her backstory. I agree! Presumably not all of her magic is from is from the computer program seeing as she helped design it, and she can't be more than 12 in the current backstory (assuming the "about a year or so" Tom mentions was their first year. It may not be). In that case, what can she do naturally? I'd also like the know why, if the program is specifically to "keep Renard in check", then how did Donny use it against Ysengrim? So many questions!

Seems weird to draw the parallel between Anja and Brock so quickly. I mean, there are plenty of squinties out there, here's a few I thought of at short notice.

Does this mean there will be a GC Pokemon crossover sometime in the future? Reynardne vs. Pikachu! Coyote vs. Mewtwo! Parley vs. Misty! Kat vs. Dawn! This idea bleeds epicness!

All she needs is a couple of Rock pokemon and she's set. She needs to grow a set of Geodudes and ask Donny out I'm afraid I know not who they are. I assumed Brock would be known to most people here, and he was the first person I thought of. I shall endeavour to keep a better eye out for squinties from now on.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm glad that the "bonus lines" that people talked about above is no longer on the page. It would have looked clumsy - the kind of artificial conversation where characters tell each other things that they already know, just to spell it out for the audience.
Though Tom's suggested that his mistake was in having Surma's speech balloon addressing Anja appear in a panel in which only Anja appeared and not Surma, which made so many readers conclude that it was Anja speaking.

I've noticed that lots of characters in Gunnerkrigg Court have nick-names. Think about it: Anja: Anny Anja is probably also a nickname. The proper name is likely Anastasia, or a variation there of.

Still makes me wonder how she sees. In fact, I bet her real eye color is blue!

Or maybe she's Asian? Romani is the word of Tom, and he doesn't lie in the Q&A threads.

Yeah Tom also said a while back that it's a style, not an actual physical trait. Doesn't this come up every time she appears in the comic?

I even read somewhere that the squintiness of the eyes in anime (oh c'mon, you can't ignore the fact that this comic is at least SIMILAR to anime) characters will display a kind, compationate and giving nature. Or in other words, it shows that Anja's a good guy. EDIT: Though when I think about it, there have also been some baddies with squinty eyes...

Interestingly, the change in panel 7 reveals something about Tom’s technique in drawing these flashback pages. The original and the current version of page 545 show a subtle difference in colour: Somewhere, Tom had mentioned that he applied the sepia tint only after the drawing is finished, and it looks like the revised version (on the right) is missing this last step – the colours are more saturated compared to the subdued colours of original version (on the left), most evident in Surma’s hair and eyes.

(oh c'mon, you can't ignore the fact that this comic is at least SIMILAR to anime) Tom has said that he tries to incorporate something from everything he likes into his artword, and cited a few manga series (off the top of my head, Battle Angel Alita and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) as being favorites. Of course, Tom has also said he's just as much influenced by Western artists like Jamie Hewlitt and Mike Mignola.
