Mmmm, Robots.
All of these robots have both wings and both arms, so I guess Annie realyl idd just build Robot out of spares. (Always kinda wondered why she couldn't find the rest of him.)
Apparently it's not a good thing for the robots to be seen by the students.

Aspen, I realise you strive to be the first to post a discussion thread for each page, but if you don't want to put any content in the threads other than one or two words I suggest you give someone else a chance.

Oh man, that was adorable. The little robot wings are a nice touch, though I assume they are purely cosmetic.
Why would the robots flee from students? Could it be that they are not supposed to be in the Student section of the Court, or was it Annie in particular that they were fleeing from? I wonder why one spoke english, and one spoke... beeps? In any case, this chapter appears to mostly be fun, which is a nice difference from last chapters heavy tone. Good on ya, Tom! Always giving us what we need, mostly.

If I were an animate, electronic device, I too would be running from unsupervized children (from the girl who got one of my brethren skewered, most especially).
If only everything fled with such spirited whimsy.

Hmmm. One speaks in beeps and whistles and the other one talks... Awesome.

Perhaps these robots are supposed to be working on a roof somewhere and ran away because they were afraid that Annie would tell on them. Or something.

Maybe they're supposed to be like houseelves- working behind the scenes.

Wouldn't you know that one of the robots at Gunnerkrigg Court would be named Montgomery?
That is an interesting question: do the robots run away from all humans like that, or just Annie? (It seems a bit unfair to blame her for what happened to Robot, if that's what they're afraid of her for; all that she'd done was to repair him. The blame should go to Mr. Eglamore, and to whoever corrupted Robot - whether the evil shadow that got vaporized by the electric lights at the bridge or by the "very nice man".)
Speaking of Robot, I've sometimes wondered what the impact must have been on Annie, hearing him call her "mommy" (technically, since they're British, it should have been "mummy", but never mind - maybe Robot was originally built in the U.S.). This is a girl who was very close to her mother, looked up to her and respected her, and was grief-stricken over her death (which would have been at most a month before she finished repairing Robot and he spoke to her). What must have gone through Annie's head when she heard Robot address her that way, I wonder?

I doubt they're running just from Annie, I think they'd run just as quickly from Kat... Although, I doubt it'd be fast enough. ^^ While I suppose they could have been the ones to fix the roof, I suspect that that was more of the Boxbot type robots. This is because these full-blown Robots don't seem to want to be seen, and I can't see them submitting to human desires. Aspen, I realise you strive to be the first to post a discussion thread for each page, but if you don't want to put any content in the threads other than one or two words I suggest you give someone else a chance. My reasoning was that, because I'm posting off the Drunk Duck update and not the GC official one, I generally wait until -after- the GC update so I don't give out spoilers. I didn't for [205] because the topic went pretty quickly and my post would have been ignored. I'll go ahead and just post my thoughts when I read it, then.

Finally this chapter is living up to my expectations! Those robots are almost as cool as Robot himself. As of to their function, well, someone has to repair the roof after giant monster attacks, right? I think they're probably not allowed to interact with the students. Might have something to do with the reason for the extra little "No" sign on page 7.

"Scarper, Montgomery!" is yet one more phrase that I would love to use in real life, yet will probably never find the opportunity to use it in context.

gosh golly the robot's name is Montgomery. That is AMAZING!
Yeah, legendary, I agree. Though I 'spose I can always just shout it at people. They don't have to now what I'm talking about.

I want a Robot.
They are probably part of the repair crew for the school. The number of times Annie herself, or by proxie has damaged GC are amazing, and somebody has to pick up the mess.

It's taken me a year or so to realise, but GC is really a shabby place, isn't it? (Sometimes it takes a while for things to sink in...) Has it run out of funds? Has it always been this way? Ponderponderponder....

I like to think of it as shabby because it's old and so alive. Like all living things it's constantly decaying. If it was in pristine condition it would seem soulless.

E! is so right that it hurts. Cracks and stains are to architecture as wrinkles and scars are to skin. You can cover them over, but it'll be at the cost of character and history.
So long as there's no danger to structural integrity, there's no shame in letting something that has lived look the part.

They were probably talking about that wild time they had at the bars last night.

They were probably talking about that wild time they had at the bars last night. No doubt dominated by oil shots, gasoline chasers, and the many uses for grease. After a while the leering at toasters begins. Random goofiness: I suppose for a robot, a dirty mind could be cured with a good vacuuming. Overheard robot conversation: Pssst... wanna by an overclocking kit? No? How 'bout a black market battery upgrade?

Poor toasters!
Oh geez, Boxbot, better not get in their way when they come back from a night of carousing and circuitry.

For anyone who hasn't done it yet, I highly recommend googling the word "scarper". The results make for interesting reading at minimum, and quite possibly fodder for theorizing.
