Robot would do things differently if he had them to do over, then? Well, he did call her Kat instead of Angel or some other title. Maybe he's starting to see her as a person instead of just a means to an end...

To me, the most interesting thing about Kat being able to project into the ether like this is that it's only 1st-generation. Once her etheric GPU is sufficiently improved, she'll be able to deepfake stuff, and that will pose a challenge for folks like Annie who tend to treat the ether as representing a higher truth than the material plane.
As Omega says, it's real as long as it remains.

Once her etheric GPU is sufficiently improved, she'll be able to deepfake stuff, and that will pose a challenge for folks like Annie who tend to treat the ether as representing a higher truth than the material plane. As Omega says, it's real as long as it remains. Two caveats. 1. Annie knows illusions are just fun way to paint air out there. Such as with the Foleys. 2. One big difference between the Ether and corporeal world is that things there do not necessarily remain self-contained within their immediate cause-effect relations and nice contiguous continuum. So… what is going to happen when, for example, someone purposefully imitates a given entity too hard? No, really, letting Renard into a chicken coop would cause much less running around and screaming than handing Kat everything she needs to build a “search engine” automatically dredging the Ether for anything she wants at a moment’s notice. You know the old joke about a gamer in hell, right? «IDDQD. IDKFA. And I don’t really need the third wish.» It could be that level of cheating.

Is this going to be something sincere and not more self-indulgent self-flagellation? If so, you may proceed Robot.

So...any thoughts on why Robot is appearing as a piece of bismuth? Are we finally going to learn more about the seed of bismuth??

With so much going on around him, I wonder if he's had time to silently look inward. Then again, he is a robot, and can process things quickly. AI enhanced existential self-reflection?

Maybe he's starting to see her as a person instead of just a means to an end... interesting, I hadn't really noticed that. good catch. I wonder if the fact that her current Ether interface "body" is a computerized avatar helps make him feel more comfortable? (of course, along with the recent trauma, wallowing in self-pity, etc.)

"Mislead" should presumably be "misled".

Robot gets Kat's attention, and Kat begs Annie's pardon to talk to the (to Annie) invisible and inaudible Robot. Now that he can talk again, he wants to apologize again for his earlier behavior. Kat says "C'mon, man" (also Tom's comment) because she's heard this all before, because presumably everyone filled her in on what happened, but on the other hand, she hasn't heard it directly from Robot. What he wants to say to Kat is that, besides potentially putting everyone in danger (aboard the cruise ship), he was willing to throw away all the effort she's put into helping both him and the other robots.
What does he mean by that?

Oh no, more of Robot's selfcentered delusions. Annie really made a mistake when she unpaperclipped him.
(Honestly, I recognize way too much of myself in Robot, as with Tony.)

So...any thoughts on why Robot is appearing as a piece of bismuth? Are we finally going to learn more about the seed of bismuth?? (Copy from the previos page discussion) All the New People were depicted as these "bismuth souls" as well when viewed in the Ether inside the distortion. S13's is just not in a humanoid shape, but I assume that's simply he lacks the NP body and associated transition to fully living being under Ether law.

I didn't remember the NP ether look, though I probably wouldn't have picked up on it since the bismuth is less detailed on that page. Thanks for pointing it out!
