Here's hoping he Digivolves into something less treacherous/zealous.

I think Robot wins whatever happens. If he catches fire and explodes, his pioneering self-sacrifice will be remembered and he wanted to die anyway. If he morphs into a monster or something weird/random, Noobs will remember how he advanced robot kind every time they look at him which will give him clout. If he's crippled then Kat will give him a lot of attention and spend lots of time fixing him, which he will relish. If he turns into a superior piece of spyware then he'll be very useful to the Angel. If he turns into an advanced Seraph then he's enshrined in a leadership position perpetually, though I'm sure he'll feel very guilty about it (not that that will stop him).

My guess would be on butterfly/advanced seraph. Though I'm not sure which role he would have. I mean he led the rebellion, even if out of good intentions. Cannot be rewarded for that, can he?
I also wonder whether this is another step towards killing Zimmy.

If this works, it becomes another point in favor of keeping the distortion going. Robot's new body may be dependent on it, just like Omega's and the new Forest. And the more successful this new status quo becomes, the more difficult it will be to remove Zimmy from its foundation.

Kat's sweating but saying it's good. She's influencing the ether by not panicking herself or others, like a doctor saying "this won't hurt a bit" If this works, it becomes another point in favor of keeping the distortion going. Robot's new body may be dependent on it, just like Omega's and the new Forest. And the more successful this new status quo becomes, the more difficult it will be to remove Zimmy from its foundation. I don't think the new body will be dependent on the distortion. According to the seraphs' designs this is a similar or higher level distortion than Torn Sea. Given that the ship's half-finished body was destroyed by kat, it survived the end of the distortion.

Thanks, Kat. Totally comforting. Not unsettling, at all. The wires attached transformed as well It does look like it to me, but that last panel might be a closeup of the same cables, from the previous panels.

well, that definitely looks like a cocoon. Or chrysalis, if you want to get fancy.
I wouldn't say that Kat is straight-up lying in panel 3, but her reassurance isn't very convincing.
Meanwhile, the 'rents are playing poker with Meg, I assume.

Yesterday Kat "planted" Robot in the hydroponic tank and waited for the results. Today Robot is beginning to change. It's as if the plates of his caterpillar-like body are opening up, revealing some circuitry or mechanism inside and releasing cilia or tentacles. Shadow seems concerned, but Kat says that it's OK and is going as she'd hoped. It seems as if Robot is almost spinning like a top inside the tank (except he can't be, because the cables aren't getting twisted). Then it looks as if he's turning into a kind of cocoon, those tentacles wrapping around whatever's inside. Kat says that this is good, but she's got a drop of sweat, as if she's trying to convince herself. Then the POV is from inside the tank, where Robot does look like he's formed a cocoon around himself, and we see Kat and Robot wavily refracted through the glass.
A cocoon is good; caterpillars make those. That's normal, right? Robot's going to change into something by emerging from the cocoon. On the other hand, this is using hydroponic equipment, treating Robot as if he were a seed of a plant, like the data seeds or presumably the CPU seeds. I don't know that there are any plants that pupate. It's sort of a hybrid thing that's going on here.

thinking about the book of names thing that Kat tried to teleport to her...why does she have a book of names in her computer to summon anyway? for the NP's to choose from in the transfer over to the bodies?

thinking about the book of names thing that Kat tried to teleport to her...why does she have a book of names in her computer to summon anyway? for the NP's to choose from in the transfer over to the bodies? She may have scanned one in or had her computer compile one, for that very purpose. I mean, there are hundreds of "Name Your Baby" books and websites that list lots of names and their meanings and origins.
