Tendril makes me think that we're going to learn more about how the magic system works this chapter. The chapter icon suggests we're going back into the distortion.

My first thought was Smitty, those tendrils look a little like his "luck" threads as seen through the ether, but maybe changed somehow via the distortion

I wondered if we'll be exploring this but after looking up the definition of tendril I'm not so sure. Maybe this is about attempts to stabilize the distortion?

I love that you looked up the definition of tendril to form your hypothesis about this chapter! Another possibility is that it will explore the various ways that Coyote/Loup had been infiltrating the court. Or the ways the court has been trying to manipulate the ether.

The chapter in which Kat tries shrooms. Kat: "My hands, man. They're so weird. My hands..."

Those are some psychedelic, disco-looking tendrils, so hopefully those are metaphoric and not literal. Although with the Distortion, I suppose anything is possible. * Metaphorically, we'll learn how Coyote (and Loup, and various dead goose wives) infiltrated the Court, like the creeping tentacles of Communism in some old propaganda film. (Tip of the hat to morrahadesigns) * We'll learn that the Distortion and reality are now intertwined, so it won't be so easy to "Computer, End Program" * Metaphorically describing the Ether, even as it infects the Good Ship Star Ocean * The Red Thread of Fate, linking people together. After a ton of Fun Times with Meg, it would be nice to see some of the other characters who haven't been seen on-screen in AGES - like Smitty and Parley. (a la arcuna)

So chapter 95's title is "Tendril." A tendril is a narrow stem of a climbing plant like an ivy that it uses to attach itself to a higher point so it can grow from there. Some such plants are parasitic and use their tendrils to invade their host plants and steal their nutrients. Make of that what you will. Perhaps someone or something is quietly moving or invading.
The chapter icon looks like a landscape we might see in the distortion, with what looks like a dark moon or eclipsed sun in the sky hanging over some mountains in the distance. The title image shows some curling tendrils that shade from blue to green to red at their tips as they spiral inward; they seem to hang in a gray fog, with shadows of more tendrils farther away; the fog appears to have multicolored motes of light within it here and there. Some of the light motes are in the foreground, in front of the tendrils; some seem farther away.
As always, there's not much to speculate about before the chapter actually begins. But we may continue to follow Annie and Renard, or we may go back to Kat, or we may follow Omega, or we may jump to somewhere completely other. If you like variety, Tom's storytelling doesn't disappoint, in my opinion.

Just this once, I am going to resist being the cat chasing Tom's laser pointer, and just wait and see what happens.

A metaphor for how AI burrows into all the arts, and will be writing and illustrating GC from now on.

Definitely thinking of Smitty, and after the events of last chapter, I’m thinking of how he’s basically the opposite of Annie from Omega’s PoV.

Ok, I have no will power. Sigh. I'm not sure how tendril-like it is, but if I remember right, Kat is connected to all of her NP. I wouldn't expect the connections to look organic though. That's the only thing I can think of that has a lot of connections. I think this because I've always thought that her "new contract", which was derived from Annie's contract, would link her to all of her NP, as slaves or in some other way.
Depending on where Omega zaps herself and Tony, we may be about to see something of the infrastructure of the court. Perhaps all of the things made out of KatGoo are connected or connected to a central point. Or perhaps the little thingies in the food, that the court uses to track everyone, are organic... and networked. Wouldn't it be funny if the court could hear every word said, whether people think they are sneaking around or not? We know they can track position, this is just the next level.
I'm envisioning a room with a giant brain, which has tendrils running to all of the things it's connected to. So if this chapter follows Tonega, we'll probably see something like that next. Else, maybe we'll find out what Smitley have been up to.

(a la arcuna) Not gonna lie, I want to see multiple dead Goose wives wreaking fowl havoc in the court. "Dead Goose Wives Game* 10/10, it's a good game Brandt. I also really like the notion that the distortion and reality are now permanently linked, though I don't like the thought of what that could be doing to Zimmy. And the ether infecting the star ocean is just such a fantastic thought!

Not to speak of Jack and Shell! Jack and Shell went up the hill? No, doesn't rhyme. Jack and Shell went down to Hell to fetch a pail of brimstone.
