Well, now we know how far off track Omega has gone since she lost perfect futuresight. Completely doo-lally. Liking Tony?!?! As a recovering brain-in-a-jar, Omega may find mind-in-a-cage Tony relatable. Also, he is on a chain, knows this and tries to yank and twist it as much as he can. Relatable and inspiring!

I didn't catch this at first, but Omega has been watching Annie quite closely since her non-death. She knows who her friends are and not just her closest friends, like Kat! William Winsbury is sort of a deep cut, isn't he? I mean, he isn't really part of her inner circle, compared to Parley (who was a fellow medium student and who helped with Jeanne).
Speaking of William, it's slightly interesting that he didn't leave for the stars. Maybe because Janet wasn't invited?
Oh, Janet was invited, but she either didn't get the invitation (perhaps her dad's political enemies intercepted it to embarrass him) or refused to come, much to her father's chagrin. That probably means William didn't go either. Of course, we weren't told that the ship had left before the distortion hit, so it probably hadn't, so even those who were going to leave are probably stuck in the distortion now. I thought she wasn't invited. Didn't her dad throw a bit of a fit at the meeting because she wasn't there, when she was supposed to be invited to it? I also thought I remembered Atta confirming this to some extent, like "normally I'd say that couldn't have happened by mistake but since Annie didn't die, Omega has been unreliable".
But perhaps I'm misremembering. Or misinterpreting.

*runs around the corner, skidding abruptly to a stop*
I- *pant pant* I'm back! What'd I miss!
*reads the last 3 months worth of comics*
...Huh. Yeah, ok, that all pretty much makes sense. Mostly what I expected already, honestly.
Robot continues to be a self-pitying jerk with a king-sized martyr complex...Shadow resolves to drag his BF kicking and screaming all the way through a redemption arc no matter what it takes, of course he does...black-haired girl is Omega, yep, I already knew it had to be either that or Zimmy...and she's actually an AI that USED to be an etherically-sensitive human, which is a nice compromise between the top 2 theories I had...
The biggest (and funniest) surprise I'm getting here is that Omega is essentially a very old, very enthusiastic, GC fangirl, whose favorite characters are Antimony and her dad (in that order). Also, that her powers are more like a natural curse that she's determined to make use of as best she can, rather than a skill she has or a function that was imposed upon her. This is going to be interesting!
I find it hilarious how quickly people are jumping on board the Omega/Tony ship. Here's my prediction for Meg & Tony's first interaction, BTW: Meg - "Omigosh, Tony Carver! You're so amazing, I'm your BIGGEST FAN!" Tony - "Then you are either mad, or a fool, I'm afraid. I am a terrible person, deserving of neither your love nor your admiration, no matter who you are. If you had any sense, you would scorn me as the vile monster I truly am." Meg - "Haha, this guy, I tell you." *throws an arm across Tony's shoulders* "What a card, what a card." Tony - "Don't touch me."

Aata did indeed strongly imply that not only was Janet not invited, she was specifically not invited due to one of Omega's cascading mistakes!

My wildspec is that Tony either knows or guesses that Omega is a person, and that he's continued to work on the project for the last few months mostly in hopes of helping her. Aata did indeed strongly imply that not only was Janet not invited, she was specifically not invited due to one of Omega's cascading mistakes! That might just be his bias, though. He does love to blame incompetent tech-minions for stuff.

I posted a wildspec many moons ago that Tony's inability to interact with more than one person had some connection to Omega - I doubt after all that's happened that that's where we're headed, but it crossed my mind after this page.
Also - did the comic fail to update at midnight?? Wow, I so rarely see a late update from Tom. Hope all's well and he was just having too much fun to schedule the page.

Looks like Annie might be getting a stepmother soon! Or at least some darned uncomfortable moments. BTW that wasn't meant to be a smartass remark. Miss Omega is a good match for Tony. She is either 0 persons or 1, depending on how you look at it, so he should find it much easier to interact with her than, say, his daughter. She is also already very much an Annie fan, and I'm guessing she will get along just fine with Kat and Donald after the obligatory initial misunderstandings. Anja too really. Tony may even already know about her! I mean that she is a her rather than just a mechanism.
We'll have to wait and see how this goes but I'm actually somewhat excited to see the Tony/Omega interaction.
I'm usually not a friend of shipping characters, but I would support this just for the sitcom humor.
Jokes aside I'm also quite interested to see them interact. I estimate a one third chance each for Tony being a) very much taken aback by the relevation that Omega is (used to be? is again?) a person, b) comments the relevation with a "I suppose that makes sense.", perhaps having had the suspicion before, or c) saying that it is nice to finally literally put a face to all those text messages.

I'm mostly kidding about the "shipping" thing, I just don't do that, being old and cranky and all. That being said, I wouldn't rule it out - I could certainly see Omega getting carried away here. She never got to have a normal life, and she likes him. I just don't know if Tony's... quirks will allow him to accept that and/or act on it.

I thought she wasn't invited. Didn't her dad throw a bit of a fit at the meeting because she wasn't there, when she was supposed to be invited to it? Aata did indeed strongly imply that not only was Janet not invited, she was specifically not invited due to one of Omega's cascading mistakes! Oh, that's right. But I though the implication on that page was that Aata or perhaps even Shell had sabotaged Janet's invitation (as it would discomfit Llewellyn). Now, though, it could even be possible that Omega deliberately omitted Janet.

I think Omega at some point after Annie was saved from the fall has been purposely making mistakes to get to this point. She would remember all the old predictions before Annie didn't die and see this new path. That gives her a body and gets her close to Annie walking chaos and Kat by association a forming gawd
