bet: Renardine wants to speak with Annie about the law he broke, fearing that during her visit with Coyote, she was told of what he did.

Annie and Rey avoiding eye contact. . .
Seems Annie is weirded out by what Coyote told her. And Rey must not be too sure of his position either.

Reynardine looks really cute in the first panel. And the last one.

Our dear gallant fox. Love the way Kat is drawn here. Antimony looks rather confused and out of place, I'm not sure why - but it fits.

Reynardine bringing Annie the sweater in the last panel suggests that her uneasiness might be due to cold (though that raises the question of why, if it was such a cold day, she was wearing a short-sleeved summer dress). Or maybe he misinterpreted her unease and it comes from something else (what she discovered about him in the last chapter, for example, or feeling useless next to Kat's skill at mechanical things).

Nah, I'm pretty sure those two will be talking about things...
specially when your own demon just happened to have a crush on you mother, so bad that he was willing to leave his own body behind to be with her (and at the end, she ended up with someone else)
talk about awkward

Reynardine is so sweet, even being awkward. I wonder if he feels like a bit of a father/protector to Annie...probably so, just given past context, but it's been taken to a whole new level of weird.
I love this comic.

So Eggers and Reynardine are more alike than either of them would care to admit.

Though in general, Annie seems to represent the etheric side and Kat the scientific side, in one sense, Annie may be more scientific than Kat.
Annie is the one looking for answers about Gunnerkrigg's nature, poking about everywhere to get to the bottom of it. While Kat does her own share of investigation (such as studying Shadow2 at the start of Chapter Twelve), she generally seems to just accept the fact that the Court is filled with weird science - weird science that gives her a lot to play with - without wondering why that is. She helps Annie with her own search, but more because Annie's her best friend.
So the more etheric girl is the one most driven by a spirit of inquiry. I wonder if this is another dramatization of the etheric and scientific paths being complex and intertwined.

Todd, I think it may be because etherial tenet gets into everything, while science can be compartmentalized into areas of expertise. Kat leans into the mechanical/robotic/analysis side of science, and that may just compartmentalize her interest in doing things to just being a friend to Annie and helping her out. In some ways, that whole thing references a trope I'm seeing here and in various TV shows: the character who always has a Gigantic Burning Question they must seek an answer to, and once that Burning Question is resolved, another one pops up and forces them to go looking again. And then you got the character who just helps the friend with the Burning Questions, because they're their friend, and they don't have any Burning Questions that bother them enough to go looking for answers. Anne's the one with the Burning Questions. In Babylon 5, Sinclair was the Guy with A Burning Question, while Garibaldi was just his somewhat knuckleheaded pal. Lost seems to be entirely made up of Burning Questions. And Battlestar Galactica, when I used to be into it, had all sorts of variants on the Burning Question Guy and Content Guy before everyone turned into Burning Question people stuck in a loop.

I think its gonna be neat to see what Robot's new body looks like. I mentioned before (back in Chapter Eighteen) that it seemed much safer to have Robot's new body be the mechanical mouse. It can easily be hidden - and Annie and Kat would have good reason to keep him hidden, since the poor guy's now a fugitive from the law in both the human and robot communities in the Court (though I assume that the faculty don't yet know that somebody took Robot's CPU from the robot community). Of course, Kat announcing to her parents that she wants to build a robot provides a good cover story. Though I'd advise her to make it a different design from Robot's old body, so that it won't remind anyone of the incident at the bridge a year ago - and from there, remember that Annie was involved in that incident, that Annie and Kat are close friends, etc.
