After stating that his mind is not so closed as to call this girl a witch, he states that she is in great pain. She doesn't seem to deny this; through the bird, she says not only that he understands but that she knew he would, suggesting she has visions of the future in addition to being able to speak through animals. He doesn't seem surprised by this, adding that if she knows that, she also knows that he wants to take her somewhere away from where she is. Her response is "Please," indicating that she doesn't want to be wherever she is now. Seeing as how she's lying apparently immobile on a cobblestone floor in a disused storeroom, that's not terribly surprising. So, as the bird watches, he picks her up and carries her in his arms, looking at her face, as the bird flies into the air. The lower right corner of the page has that same scrollwork involving an omega symbol that this sequence began with, suggesting that perhaps this is the end of this flashback sequence and that the next page will take us to another place or time – perhaps the present day, perhaps a different flashback sequence.
Easy to assume that this is somehow Omega, but if she's the same girl we see with Annie, she's pretty old. However, she obviously has etheric abilities of some kind, so she may be longer-lived than a normal human, or she may have undergone various changes since then. I mean, she's apparently in an authentic enough New Person body now that she gets an NP dialogue balloon.
What if the Omega Device is a technological means that the Court has devised for Omega to speak through, so she doesn't have to use animals (or perhaps even the Ether)?

Loving the random James back story, I wonder how it's connected to Omega. Why do you think it's James' backstory? Is it spec or did I miss something? Old joke that comes up when speculation happens about new characters. All unkown male characters are James drawn differently until they aren't.

These Formsprings from Word of Tom seemed relevant: (i) Zimmy's parents forgot her, but long before the Court found her (ii) WHY they forgot her is apparently a spoiler Edit: adding link since the attachments are tiny for some reason www.chrysoprax.org/gunnerkrigg/results?term=zimmy

Scene cuts to a lightning hitting a tower, an antenna. Inside, the girl lays on a table in what is clearly a medieval laboratory. By her side the guy yells frenetically "She's alive! SHE'S ALIVE!!", all the while the raven striking his head yells "I was already alive, you moron!!". Huh. I thought about the raven emulating infamous Pate Woodpeckers, but from the angle of disregarding her last question on the previous page.
