In this comic Antimony touches base with Renard through their familiar-link before proceeding. It occurs to me one probably shouldn't mention the devil in a strong reality distortion... or anyone else one wouldn't want to meet. It might get the subconscious working.

It feels like Annie and Renard mentioning the idea that the NP is Zimmy this directly makes it feel more like a misdirect and they'll end up being someone else.

This page reminds me of one of the reasons I love this comic. It doesn't underestimate readers, Annie just casually blurted out the exact thought readers have had, there's no "useless" leading up and charecters chatting about "obvious" stuff...

Did anyone else feel like we missed an update? We'll probably get back to the mystery NP in the next page, though. It feels like Annie and Renard mentioning the idea that the NP is Zimmy this directly makes it feel more like a misdirect and they'll end up being someone else. Back when they first mentioned that she looks a little like Zimmy, the first thing I thought was that it's a misdirect.

The Mystery NP said she knows where Robot is, then we saw another glimpse of the unknown machine (I'm resisting calling it the Mystery Machine), and then ... today, Renard's calling Annie on the EtherPhone.
It's a black-background, frameless page that has become typical of Annie and Renard's conversations via their familiar connection. Renard asks where Annie is, using his characteristic "what the devil"/"where the devil" expression. Making a long story short, Annie explains that the Mystery NP "warped [her and Shadow] away" and says they must check on Robot. She asks Renard whether he's in a safe place, which he says he is. (Presumably he's more or less where we last saw him, near Kat's lab.)
Renard says that Annie should go do what she must do, then remarks that if the MNP is some aspect of Zimmy, she could be helpful in this situation – meaning the etheric distortion of still-unknown scope. Annie agrees.
This page doesn't really advance anything; it's more of a consolidation point, where we see that Renard's fine, he knows Annie's fine and more or less what she's up to, and they're both still thinking that MNP is Zimmy in some way. There's no questioning of how MNP knows where Robot is, no discussion of whether they believe her, no questioning of why she's decided to help them, no speculation about what's happened to Robot. I guess they're leaving all of that to us.

It feels like Annie and Renard mentioning the idea that the NP is Zimmy this directly makes it feel more like a misdirect and they'll end up being someone else. I know, that's what's keeping me from going "Oh, she's just a fragment of Zimmy." I'm not sure at this point, but I'm thinking she's made up of bits of Coyote, Zimmy, Ysengrin, maybe even Gamma and Lana. Or perhaps she's an anthropomorphic embodiment of the distortion itself. Or ... I don't know. I'm pretty sure the final answer will be something I didn't think of. But I think that "not just a piece of Zimmy, but bits of Zimmy combined with bits of Coyote, etc." would be enough to justify the misdirect.

This is not the first time that an unpleasant surprise via the familiar-link has made Renard invoke the devil. But it's also just a very old man thing to say in general. Renard continues to be the Team Grandpa.

Come on, we've been led on for quite some time now. It's just became unbearable. (Maybe you were being ironic. If that's the case I apologize).

well, Distortions are *normally* Zimmy's thing, but Coyote/ Loup's "Crash-into Hello" says otherwise. And Loup has experience with impersonating NPCs.
And Coyote is, well he's just Coyote. He can make 2+2 = Fish.

It feels like Annie and Renard mentioning the idea that the NP is Zimmy this directly makes it feel more like a misdirect and they'll end up being someone else. Or at least not just straight up Zimmy. MNP could be part-Zimmy, part-someone/thing else. Or a very specific part of Zimmy, one that she had previously hidden away carefully perhaps.

It might get the subconscious working. *Spits Tea Laughing* gosh golly, this is the best thing ever. Everyone’s lines are absolutely perfect here! So much so that this feels like it captures the essence at the heart of the Annie, Rey, Coyote, Ys, Loup pack dynamic at its purest.

Or perhaps she's an anthropomorphic embodiment of the distortion itself. Or ... SHE IS OMEGA! My money is still on Kat either is Omega or built Omega. l Zimmy is already Zeta. I’d be a bit disappointed if our already pretty mysterious, magnificent, and wonderful little ether volcano also turned out to be the enigmatic, nearly omniscient, even more mysterious Omega. But I do think the court is holding onto her as a backup power source for Omega if they can’t get/use Coyote/Loup’s esthetic energy. I’m betting that they’re willing to gobble up just about any scrap of esthetic energy they can scrounge, steal, or salvage to achieve their goals.

I’m getting a “introducing Jenny for the first time” vibe from the way Tom had been playing with us on this. Jenny is my favorite pet theory right now, though I think it could also be one of the court’s Shadow Men or someone from robots inner circle.

My money is still on Kat either is Omega or built Omega. l Zimmy is already Zeta. That's what I meant. Zoob is not Zeta. Zeta is Zeta. Zoob is Omega, built in the past by future Kat, but came to the present and sneaked itself into one of those flesh-o-rama pods supervised by Robot.

My thought continues to be that NP is a form of Zimmy/Lana mix-up (it having been strongly inferred that Lana is still a thing, and that this mess resulted from a collision between Loup, Coyote and Lana, and Zimmy. Which probably means it's Gemma)

I'm still thinking FNP = Omega. To recap, the personality doesn't match anyone we've seen (which doesn't rule out a hybrid entity of course), she was very happy to get to explore Kat's NP area, and perhaps most importantly, she knows how to navigate the distortion AND blip. The personality doesn't match Zimmy or Kat in the least and I can't think of anyone else who might understand the spatial distortion. Kat might but she probably couldn't blip and wouldn't have tried to shadownap Shadow 2. I suppose Coyote or a partial Coyote might be able to navigate and blip, just because he can be omniscient when he wants to be, but it just doesn't seem to fit.
My cookies are still on Omega. An Omega that is now a living being, even if not one previously.
