I just said, "Tune in next week..." I never promised there would be an answer this comic. Sometimes there will be an answer, or an answer that will raise more questions than it answered. Presumably what we're looking at has something to do with where, who, or what Robot is. |

I'm reading these glimpse pages almost like a loud heartbeat, interrupting the main story. I wonder if their interval will increase towards the end.

After the mystery New Person said she knew where Robot was, we suddenly see more of the ailing pseudo-organic machine that we started the chapter with. This appears to be metal parts with tubes and wires, but feathers are visible, as are some things that look somewhat like barnacles or other mollusks growing on some of the corroded metal parts. Tom's comment text: "Where" (no punctuation). Is this where Robot is? In what way? We don't see him, unless this *is* Robot. I'm not sure how he would have transformed, as nobody else seems to have. On the other hand, Robot and the other seraphs are the only robots that are still robots qua robots. They still have CPUs. As Annie said, it seems that the world's been affected by this distortion, not the people; it's usually the other way around. The CPUs the NP were collecting changed into seeds, and the robot bodies they were in turned into plants. What's Robot turned into? And the seraph robots? |

Barnacles aren't mollusks; they're highly derived crustaceans. Basically, they've evolved to stick to surfaces with their foreheads and kick their legs to collect food. (Except for the ones that parasitize the insides of crabs and screw with their gender identities.) This point is absolutely crucial to the correct interpretation of this chapter. |

It's either where Robot is currently imprisoned, or it's Omega (clunky liquid-cooled computer). Hard to say which.

Not sure those are barnacles. I was thinking they were some kind of switches or buttons. Maybe not though. The more interesting thing is that the... tank in the middle reminds of me a vacuum tank. I've actually worked with such things in actual labs in the past. It's not quite right for the ones I've seen, and certainly could be something else, like an immersion chamber with some kinda fluid in it. The feather is the weird part. My gut reaction is "wow, that's a huge feather!", but there really isn't anything on the page to give us scale, so maybe not. On the other hand, I do remember someone who had a bird phase a while back, and the rest of the equipment looks like stuff she may have built. Here's a thought - if Robot wanted to make a body Kat might find handsome, and he knew about her avian leanings (which he surely does), maybe we are indeed seeing a new evolution of Robot. Probably not the Robot Chicken model suggested by Igniz, however.  |
