This relocation has brought them to a location Shadow 2 and Robot shared in Chapter 56 ("New Data"). Annie is still hanging onto the Mystery New Person's arm, and MNP appears to still be hanging onto Shadow 2. There's another BWIP, and we can't really see where they are this time, but Annie is getting quite agitated by all this and shouts at MNP to stop this. She says she wants to help her friend, meaning Shadow 2, and somehow this statement makes MNP pause, looking surprised. The fact that they've once again bwipped to a place significant in Shadow 2's past suggests to me that this is really Shadow and not some distortion recreation or somebody in disguise. On the other hand, if MNP is Robot, that could explain the choices of destination, so in that case this wouldn't necessarily have to be the real Shadow. But I just can't see Robot acting in some of the way MNP has, with the giggling and sneaking around. That's just not Robot's personality. The fact that learning of Annie's friendship for Shadow gives MNP pause suggests to me that MNP is someone who didn't already know Annie was friends with a shadow person and finds that surprising. I've been guessing that MNP is Coyote up to now, with allowances that it may be someone else. I agree that it's probably not a new character being introduced this late in the story. At the moment I can't think of anyone other than Coyote who: - Has the ability to manipulate the distortion to this degree
- Wants to get the Angel to manifest and has no compunctions arranging for the death of a NP to make it happen
- Has a mischievous manner when unobserved
- Doesn't know about Shadow 2 and Annie's friendship with him

As the Zoob is acting less and less like Zeta or even Jenny infiltrating as a Noob, I think it's probably Shell infiltrating as a Noob. The Shadow Men, Aata in particular, know some tricks and I guess it's not time for the Jenny plot twist yet. I think Shell hasn't met and doesn't know about Shadow2 and isn't trying to escape with him, she's trying to drag him away from the Court... and is probably a bit surprised and frustrated that the places in his mind keep being Court places... and boring/useless Court places at that. Not sure she's trying to protect Antimony and Kat et al so much as the Court in general. Alternatively: She saw a fellow shadow man and just wanted to give him a big hug.
