Black-haired NP is still hanging around. If she's Zimmy, maybe she'll be less paranoid now that she's seen Kat break out of Angel form and still act like a decent person.

Yes, it would be more suspicious if any of the NPCs were not frozen. They should have no idea of what just happened, starting from the point where Sam died onward. I noticed that Kat's still hanging onto that contract. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be an Etheric contract, which only exists in Ether space. She's also getting sucked in the same direction as Clippy and Mel, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence. She wouldn't end up in the Soul Society or something by mistake, right? That black-haired NPC is so totally not a real NPC. I'm not sure it's actually Zimmy, but yeah probably. It would be funny if she was somebody else, such as even Kat... we never saw the two of them in the same panel, after all.... |

It's a long shot, but if any of the NPs mention what happened, that would subtly indicate they aren't who they claim to be. All of them should have been both frozen, and they have no knowledge of Clippy and the Soul Bureaucracy (which happens to be the name of his weekend Progressive Folk band)

So now that Kat has a copy of the contract, she wonders what happens next, and the Interpreter is quick with an answer – he and Saslamel are going to leave until Kat decides who's going to be the New People's psychopomp.
Then, in three angular panels, the space distorts as Saslamel and the Interpreter seem to warp into the distance. Next Kat warps into the distance (still holding onto the contract), shouting that she's being "sent back" (I assume back to her lab, not back to third grade). Annie is bent forward, shouting back that she thinks she knows how to get to Kat now. And then ... they're back in that corridor, the recreation of the hallway outside Eglamore's office from chapter 9. We see both Renard and that NP with the long black hair that we've been wondering about, and they're staring at Annie as she retains the same posture she just had as she was shouting to Kat. She has an amusing expression on her face and an exclamation point above her head, probably as a bit of comic relief.
This leaves Annie back in the same company she was before, minus Sam, of course. But the NP were trying to get to Kat's lab to deliver the CPUs, and if Annie now knows a way to get there, they'll certainly want to do that. Perhaps we have a plot signpost. Or perhaps it's a misdirection. We'll see. But no end-of-chapter symbol yet.

Hmm yeah, it would be strange for the others standing there if Kat suddenly materialized at Sam's death. Then again, she is the Angel, so why not.
