That’s a classic one. Hmmm... I was thinking more Zimmyham Star Ocean than the ether-afterlife In practice this may yet prove to be the same thing.

One of those rare occasions where running towards the light doesn't get you killed. Probably.

Hmmm... I was thinking more Zimmyham Star Ocean than the ether-afterlife Would be hilarious if this transports them to the new court planet screwing their entire plan by putting newly etheric NP's thousands of light years away. (who will come back in a decade with super super tech space travel)

Hmmm... I was thinking more Zimmyham Star Ocean than the ether-afterlife Oh yeah. Might not be a functional difference at this point?

Confronted by at least two of the three-headed spider creatures after destroying one, Annie expresses her opinion that they won't be making any further progress in the direction in which they were going. The New Person with long dark hair spots a region of bright light down one street, with what appear to be mountains in the distance, and Annie's suggestion is that they move in that direction instead. She doesn't say to run that way, but several of the NP do so. The light quickly becomes blindingly bright, and the final frame of the page is simply pure white.
The fact that we lose sight of the NP who run into the light is concerning. But this may still be the exposition part of the chapter: showing us what the various options are as to where those within the distortion can go. We've been seeing various scenarios from a distance and in the background since the start of the chapter, but we haven't seen what their interiors were like until the characters started moving, and then we saw the interior of the dark Court-like one. Perhaps we'll see what's in that mountain scenario next time.

Marty we must go back then one more time to old west Court One of my favorite science-fiction concepts is "Adam and Eve are time-travelers and/ or ancient astronauts." Maybe the Star Ocean leads from Gunnerkrigg Earth to a prehistoric planet (Earth 01). Then the New People would be Golgafrinchans.
