I wonder if they'll take Annie's throwaway words at the end seriously, like they did Kat's 'It was worth it' and host a full on wake?

A wake is what Lana would have wanted.
Still, I think that final quip underscores the tin ear that some people thought Annie was showing last page.
Tom is up to something.

Annie was hanging out around Zimmy long enough to develop an useful habit: to can, belay and put on hold whatever shock or other distractions get in the way, until the distortion weirdness comes to complete stop. Hence the dark humour.

The wake will involve the public reading of melodramatic romance novels. Loud swooning and gasps are mandatory.

Huh, I only now realized that the day/night cycle is all out of wack in this distortion.

maybe i'm wrong, but i remember the behavior changing properties of zimmingham weren't like, actively detrimental to the mood of the chapter. i think there's something lacking in this page, maybe composition wise, that would either make annie less callous and insensitive about the first new person to die, or make her callousness a bit more off putting and surreal.
also, when people behave differently in zimmingham, isn't it because they're playing another telegraphed role ? i guess annie and kat could be playing the "anime protagonists right before showdown" narratives.

Seriously, what tin ear?!?!?! Just means she has bad hearing It's metaphorical, meaning she's bad at picking up and reacting to nuances in speech, sentiments etc.
