Ninja'd by one minute. Was just saying how there wouldn't be any real stakes to Lana's death if Kat could just make her whole again and Jerrek would probably not appreciate a replacement gf though if they can find her chip and memory he would probably be okay with a factory refurbished one.
Also: There's no rules about who makes the discussion threads. If one of the regulars isn't around when the comic updates and people want to discuss the comic, go ahead and make a thread. The format's basic... The title should have the comic number, the text should have a permanent link to the comic, and it's tradition that an important line of dialogue is either in the title or the text. Jokes or other pithy sayings are optional. If someone beats you to it (according to the timestamp) then please delete the duplicate thread to avoid confusion.

She can’t be easily repaired, you see, because while Lana used to be made of bits, now she’s mostly made of bites.
…I’ll show myself out

(Answering the question whether Annie can have emotions without closing her eyes.)

Having just heard of Lana's demise, Kat sounds upset. We're conspicuously not seeing Kat yet, so we still don't know whether her lab is inside or outside the distortion. But she's upset enough that sweat drops are coming from the radio.
We then zoom out far enough to see that the New People are overhearing, as Annie asks Kat a question that I've seen some people asking on the forum: Kat has Lana's CPU, so couldn't she just make another Lana? The answer is no; she could make Lana's body again, but the consciousness transfer is a one-time thing. The NP look sad and concerned. This may be the first time any of them have considered this. They're mortal, and now they know it. And those of them who knew Lana now know she isn't coming back. (Unless, you know, she does come back, because again, Coyote nommed her in one bite, so maybe she's frozen in time somewhere.)
Then Kat just wants to know what's happened, which is followed by two establishing frames showing more of the background. Presumably this means time is passing while Annie explains what's happened since Kat left. We don't need to see that, since we already saw it.
And ... end of Friday page! What will Monday's installment hold? With those two establishing frames, we could be transitioning to another point of view. Will we see what's going on in Kat's lab? Or will we be going to whatever madcap hijinx are going on with Zimmy, Gamma, Coyote, and Loup? Or will we be seeing Lana's afterlife guide showing up and realizing that they need someone to deal with appliances now? Or something even weirder? ... Or will we just come back to Annie, after she gets Kat caught up?

Still percolating on the line "I'll want* to die". Maybe part of it is that Coyote has taken Lana into death, and dying would be Jerrek/Loup's best bet of ever being with her in any capacity? There's bound to be more being used to wear him down, but that could be a powerful incentive. * : emphasis mine

I think I understand Tom's comment "A RAM issue, maybe": RAM = "Really Are Mortal"
I wonder if no longer being able to be restored so long as the CPU is intact is a feature, or a bug?

Even if Katerina could recreate Lana from her previous robot self's CPU, I don't know how Lana's lived experiences during her time as a New Person could be restored. After all, biological beings are rarely, if ever, equipped for full data backup. And without that information, I just don't see how Lana could be replicated to be the same person that she grew to become just before Coyote's chomp.

She just reached the bargaining stage, that’s all.

And even if she had backed up her mind directly before encountering Coyote, the new Lana would still just be a copy of the old one. The only way to really resurrect the original Lana would be to retrieve her actual consciousness - that which was transferred into the NP body - from...uh...wherever it is now (within Coyote? In a cardboard box addressed to the Psychopomps?).
