My thoughts exactly. I've seen this happen in other media as well. The first MIB movie and the first Shrek come to mind for characters eaten alive that remain alive and in one piece afterwards. Granted, both of those were comedies to some extent, so perhaps not the best examples but it does show when you're a creature of massive size, eating something alive in anger becomes inevitable. As for me, I'm just sort hoping Loup says "Screw it" and gives into a full-blown Ysengrin-style angry temper tantrum where he goes after Coyote for a good old fashioned smackdown fight. New experience for Coyote: someone beating the snot out of him and actually winning a fight against the god for once.

Cookies for the two who went with the "Lana doesn't get out of this" option. (Although 'Mecha-Goddess Arises' is still in contention!)
Which power is Coyote referring to? Strength, presumably.

Is Kat about to have her Lazerus moment? Also: hello! New member but v v long time lurker) That would be really cool. Also, hello! Is it way too early for a certain someone to play the psychopomp role, and then goes on to become integrated into the robo-mythos?

I... was genuinely expecting her to be rescued. I guess for there to be real tension, sometimes the girl's got to get munched. A few people are saying she still could be dug out? But since Coyote "DOES NOT EXIST" (in fact, literally just jumped out of the throat of a boy smaller than he is) I doubt, once he's set his mind on disposing of someone, such physical considerations apply.

Lana becoming the first robot/New Person to be guided into an afterlife? That would be interesting, Annie would become another mythic psychopomp and Lana becoming the martyr. I also note the manner of Coyote's command to Loup, he is treating Loup exactly how he used to treat Ysengrin, but Loup is not Ysengrin and I certainly doubt will be as willing or acquiescing to just follow Coyote's commands, especially when he just chomped Loup's girlfriend.

Loup should be able to take Coyote in a fight, especially if this Coyote is just some sentient voicemail or something.

I guess then Coyote is only as dead as he wants it to be (read: as long as his plans are in order). Coyote seems like to want to go alone here to find Kat? Although the use of "we" in the last panel is interesting. Would Coyote need Loup/Jerrek to come with him in order for Coyote to go around?

Oh that crunch is not encouraging. Yes this is what makes me think Lana is really dead and not swallowed whole to be dug out shortly. Still think there is some chance for Kat to perform a miracle of some kind and bring her back from the dead in some form (a saved back up?) but looking a bit grim! Looking forward to Loup/Jerrick's response...

Someome will have his belly cut open and filled with stones for this atrocity.
I wonder if Coyote simply feels offended or wants his plan to succeed (whatever its success might be) so badly?

This could all be a scam, where coyote knew the outcome in advance. Lana could even be coyote like Jerek is Loup after passing the same test as red fairy.
In such a scenario coyote hasn't lied but there in lies the danger in words of Jones.
The non scam version so far lacks a reason for Annie to stab Loup and then Loup to agree its a wonderful plan. Scam we have tHe motivation... Rescue the damsel in distress and then happily ever after

If Lana is really dead (and is unrecoverable) it's probably for the best* as opposed to letting the relationship with Jerrek run its course. I don't think it had anywhere positive to go. As a memory of a love lost before things started to sour she'd be perfect as something to drive Jerrek/Loup/Ysengrin to develop in the future.
Am disappoint that Jerrek/Loup hasn't developed enough already to stand up to Coyote and save her, though.
Additionally, Coyote says "so-called divine being" in the last panel and I think that's worthy of note. It sounds like he doesn't actually believe that a new god walks the earth (and he is correct in that, at least so far) and is angry about some lesser entity or being interfering or playing a trick here... tricking people that he's been manipulating, essentially snatching his prey.
Now, I guess the next question is... Has Coyote really abandoned his plan** and if so, has Jerrek/Loup found enough resolve/regret through this to save Antimony if she backtalks Coyote in the next few pages? Even if Lana isn't really dead (and in this comic there's always ways that could be the case, since Coyote could just spit her out later or Kat might have installed an anti-domestic violence teleportation subroutine) he might have found the wherewithal to stand up to Coyote just by thinking Lana's dead and not wanting to stand by and watch the same thing happen to Antimony.
*for everyone except Lana, of course, though I'd still argue it's kinder in a way if her character expires here and never has to see abuse from Jerrek/Loup
**I don't think Coyote's given up on his plan completely since he hasn't taken his power back from Jerrek/Loup; he can take back any powers he's given whenever he wants.

Seeking out Kat means Coyote is really diverging from his plan, or at least he thinks the original plan needs some serious salvaging.
I wonder what kind of limitations, if any, Coyote has put on this "echo" of him, like a time limit or limited power? The previous one could stop time, so wasn't very limited.
If it's just a mechanical CRUNCH, Lana still has a good chance since her personality is on a chip, which can be quite sturdy, and Kat can make a new body for her. It's likely that Kat has at least saved the parameters for the NP's bodies somewhere. But Coyote being a god and a rather virtual being can also mean that anything eaten is just annihilated or consumed in some magic way.
Lana has been a fairly flat character anyway compared to the others, so storywise I can see how she's dispensable.

Something that comes to mind is that when Coyote gives someone one of his powers he does so by passing them one of his abstract traits (his spine for strength, presumably his paws for plant control and his belly for possession).
This appearance of Coyote wasn't triggered by a separated piece of him returning to him so he doesn't have anything Loupe didn't have and isn't an external memory, yet he still has the red spine which symbolises his strength.
Given Loupe's reaction to Coyote's attack this appearance does appear capable of interacting with reality (which suggests it's more than a memory), which makes me wonder...
Assuming that the red spine indicates this version of Coyote still has his strength, what power did he give Loupe?
Of course all of this relies on the idea that Coyote's abilities are consistent which is a rather silly assumption in itself.

So, Coyote can't access all of his power now, can he? He needs Loup's help to find Kat... Maybe Loup still has all the power and Coyote is merely channeling them, like a parasite...?

I think I’m in the minority here, but I don’t think this Coyote is actually dead. Since we saw him at the beginning of this chapter, he’s reacted to everyone (unlike the recorded messages) and doesn’t seem to really be dead anymore. Maybe I’m forgetting key context here, but he no longer seems to be without his strength, either.

Hahahaha! I knew this would happen! (given the comic relief at the start of the chapter and Coyote's escalating anger). Aside from his death, I don't recall seeing Coyote disappointed/angry/anything but grin for more than a panel or two at a time. The last few pages were terrifyingly well-done.
