As Annie tries to console poor Kat in a café of some sort, one of the New People comes in – I don't think we've seen him before, but he's wearing the requisite track suit. He's very polite and says "excuse me," and calls Kat "Angel," so there's more evidence that this is in fact a NP. He offers Kat some flowers with his regrets.
Kat attempts a smile, with a drop of sweat on her brow, saying that this is a sweet gesture, and teleports them to her workshop, which the NP considers an honor. ZIM, off they go (not ZAM; that teleport sound is taken).
Then, behind her hand, Kat tells Annie that this has been happening all day, as the NP heads toward the door. She's back to a not-happy expression, and she's pointing toward the NP.
Will Jerrek and Lana come next? Or aren't we ready for that yet?

At least Kat is sweet and polite enough to be nice to each one doing this even if she appears to be getting a little sick of it. Being gracious when others are showing you sympathy is a good skill to possess.

Or maybe are they all going specifically to be reduced and processed into raw materials from which to make other things? Sometimes I feel bad about bringing up these practical questions. This is not one of those times. She's already started building fabricator machines out of flower tissue, just as a proof of concept. Eventually she'll present Paz with a stable ecosystem of techbots, fleshbots and etherbots labeled "THIS COULD HAVE BEEN US." Paz will smile. |
