Is the booth seat the inspiration for the fainting couch? Does Kat spend lots of time reclining here? Or does she just spend a lot of time reclining lately?

How to comfort someone going through something you have no idea about?
Also Annie's face in the last panel is great

More robots might actually help Kat feel better, especially if they were better robots. Maybe bigger robots.
[edit] Speaking of robots, since they don't have robot labor anymore, who is staffing the café? Is everything in the Court automated and/or self-service now, are humans working there, or are the noomans now going back to their own jobs at least some of the time? [/edit]

The sign posted on the door says "Moody Cafe" "No Cheerful People Allowed On Premises".
Maybe Annie is feeling distress because she thought she had a real relationship with Kat. Not a romantic relationship, but a relationship none the less.

I know she probably isn't, but Annie is giving me big AroAce vibes right now and as someone who's seen a lot of friends have romantic relationship troubles I have no idea how to help with, I relate.

I'd wager that if you asked Jeanne she'd say she definitely never had any kind of romantic relationship with Diego.
I know she probably isn't, but Annie is giving me big AroAce vibes right now and as someone who's seen a lot of friends have romantic relationship troubles I have no idea how to help with, I relate. I think in this case it's simply that Annie has never had a romantic relationship herself and thus has no idea how one feels when a romantic relationship ends.

I'm betting "Moody Cafe" would have the best background music.

I'm glad Kats reaction is pretty normal. I would expect her to get consumed by her experiments not noticing anything around as a way to cope. But she looks fine i guess.
Also, Annies worried face is super cute~! She has no idea how to act or what to say, doesn't she? Totally relatable, really.

I'm glad at least Kat is having a healthy emotional reaction like a normal teenage girl and not going into full cold, aloof, "above all humanity" technogoddess mode as I feared she might.

After some establishing frames at the end of the previous page, we're now in a diner of some sort – they at least have teacups and the ability to fill them with a beverage of some sort. I'm still super curious about the Court's infrastructure and how much of it is still supported, and by who/what. Before Loup's attack, I'd say robots did it all, but afterward, I guess there were a few robots that were overridden by CourtAI (tm), but how many? At any rate, the view out the windows has a look that says it's somewhere in the seaside area, and there are Annie and Kat at a table – we don't see anyone else in the place.
In a frame that has us looking over Kat's shoulder at an Annie who looks incredibly far away due to the table's forced perspective, Annie asks Kat how she's doing today, a worried look on her face. This, I suppose, establishes that it hasn't been too long since the breakup – perhaps it happened yesterday, or the day before that, but I doubt it's been longer.
Kat's reply is "Super crummy," which is a very Kat-ish understatement. But the next thing she says is weirdly objective; she says that her first real relationship is over. Not that she's missing Paz, not that she's got no plans tonight for the first time in a long time. It's as if she's concerned that this reflects poorly on her.
Annie can only say that the way Kat feels is normal, adding that that's a guess. Annie, where exactly are short-sleeved mock turtlenecks in fashion? Annie's gone back to the one blue hairclip hairstyle.
Next – some New People visit! I'm guessing.

While I'd say Kat's reaction is normal, I'd like to see the state of her eyes.
(Don't go Willow Rosenberg on us, Kat!)

The real question here is, is this the first time we see Annie dressed in white?

On the one side, the people listed above whom Kat loves - and her distrust of the Court because of its past corrupt actions. On the other side, her enthusiasm for science that has at times blinded her to prudence (as in incorporating Diego's arrow in the "transfer ownership of Reynardine back to Annie".

Gosh, wouldn't it be upsetting if Robot showed up with an NP form that looked like Paz? Good thing Tom doesn't like to troll us!

As for staffing the cafe, wasn't the teenage witch a waitress just recently? I don't think it was the same cafe but it could have been. Even if she doesn't work there or isn't working this morning, we don't know that someone isn't, just that they aren't in our field of view right now.

How are the court going to handle food since they don't got space compression to grow things? I guess memory wipe on how they got all the stockpile¿

As for staffing the cafe, wasn't the teenage witch a waitress just recently? I don't think it was the same cafe but it could have been. Even if she doesn't work there or isn't working this morning, we don't know that someone isn't, just that they aren't in our field of view right now. What Jenny was wearing could be a waitress uniform minus the apron. What she says about getting over herself could be construed as a reference to getting a job, therefore a uniform that didn't pair well with her old look, or it could just mean that she found a new look she thought was more mature. She changed her hair color which strongly suggests the latter, but that doesn't rule out the former. She sure is quick to pour condiments on the table top for someone who works there and she isn't shown cleaning the mess up but on the other hand there were other customers in the previous café which I think suggests that they would be staffed, therefore most likely the Court made arrangements to staff them in lieu of robot labor. Using idle school-age kids who are old enough would make sense but there isn't enough evidence to say for sure. It could be the case that the locals are just going to the local restaurants and cafés and bringing their own food and drinks just to go out kinda like they used to. Additionally: While reviewing the comic to make this post I can't help but wonder if the degothification of Jenny is the result of her own personal growth and changing tastes or if it was something else. Aata, for example, would probably consider her old look to be be immature and her new look (and potential job) to be more appropriate. If I were Aata and wanted gauge how well I could manipulate Jenny, I might find it useful to characterize her personal appearance (and taste in music, potentially) as wrong/immature; making her change those things and stay changed would demonstrate that I had a lot of sway over her... and I might be arrogant enough to believe that I was doing her a favor in the process.

Contrast between first and second panels is interesting. The first panel shows them from a third person perspective sitting at a small square table with Annie's forearms halfway across the table. Second panel is from Kat's perspective and Annie looks the better part of ten feet away with her hands on the table edge, like she's about to stand up and leave. I think Kat's feeling a little alone at the moment.

I still don't see why that was particularly imprudent. It was the only soul-transfer technology to which she had access, and it worked pretty much perfectly for the Founders. I don't think anyone could have foreseen the sudden appearance of a prehistoric divine administrator the second time it was used....
